| dakotadoc's Full Review: All-Clad Stainless Steel Locking Tongs (12-in.) |
The All-Clad Stainless Steel Locking Tongs are what all kitchen tongs should be. When you pick them up you can tell these are no ordinary stamped out thin metal tongs. They are heavy duty and made to last for at least one lifetime. The stainless steel is polished mirror bright with the look and feel of a professional cooking tool. The hinges are heavily made and should never break. This is definitely something every good cook should have in their kitchen and should have at least two of them. Tongs are so handy for serving food and for turning chunks of various foods while cooking. They work great for sausages, steaks, etc. where you dont want to pierce holes to let the juices out.
The tongs come in two sizes, the 9 inch and the 12 inch lengths. I have big hands and I like the extra length so I bought a pair of the 12 inch size. It may be nice to have a pair of each size.
I particularly like the built in locking mechanism. Just point them up or down while holding them together to release or lock them. I used to have to store my old tongs with a twist tie around them to make them easier to put into a drawer. These new tongs have solved that problem.
They are a little pricey at about $19.95 but you get what you pay for.
