Pros: Well designed and written, designed to include everyone but the Ewok.
Cons: A bit pricey.
The Bottom Line: The New Star Wars system is designed for ease of use. This book falls in with that paradigm. A must for a Star Wars gamer.

| talyseon's Full Review: Owen K. C. Stephens and Rodney Thompson - Starship... |
Star Wars Roleplaying Game: Starships of the Galaxy Designed by Gary Astleford, Owen K.C. Stephens, Rodney Thompson.
The Millennium Falcon…a name that conjures so many feelings. It’s the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. For Han Solo and Chewbacca, it is home, and freedom. The Falcon was almost another character in the Star Wars movie, a bigger less vocal, but no less temperamental R2D2.
Now, as Wizards of the Coast puts out their new line of updated Star Wars games, the second volume focuses on getting from here to there. Star Ship combat has always fascinated gamers, with quite complex games evolving around any Space Opera game. Star Trek had a particularly involved game system that was basically a different game.
Now Star Wars has reintegrated the system so that a space battle does not necessitate breaking out a different set of books.
What really impressed me was the section on getting everyone involved. You may have a noble who can’t fire a quad laser, but that does not mean you can’t be useful. It lists each classes Talents that have a starship combat application, Jedi can use Battle Meditation, Force Haze and Force Intuition. Nobles can use their powers of Rally and Improve/Weaken Resolve and Demand Surrender. You get the idea. It also lists things that won’t work to avoid arguments; a scoundrel can not use Dastardly Strike to improve the damage he gets in dog fight.
There are also Skills and feats that apply. I don’t care what your class is, if you have the highest score in Use Computers, you are the Astrogator and Communications officer.
There are also new talents and feats just for starships. For instance, a noble like Princess Leia might seem as useful as lipstick on a Rancor to a star ship, but if you take the lineage talent, Engineer, it indicates that maybe your family got rich designing star ships, or they are the futuristic equivalent of car collectors. And remember, Leia pitched in making repairs on the Falcon.
The Chapters include a very well written introduction, Starship Basics, which covers the feats and talents I discussed, Starship Combat, which details the simple rules of engagement, Starship Modifications, which allows you to pimp out your ride, and the Starship Codex which details the stats on various starships from the YT-2400 Series Transport to the Imperial Star Destroyer.
So, if your group captures a group of slavers operating a customized slaving by kidnapping ring, and they decide to claim the Dynamic class freighter as their own, you too can be zooming around the galaxy in the Fortunate Womp Rat.
