We purchased a gateway last Christmas. runs pretty good-like any other computer. We did add more memory-up to 512RAM
We did have one problem after 7 months-our hard drive died!!!! We called tech support and they tried to get us up and running but couldn't. They had to send us another hard drive. I teach school and was in desperate need of my computer. I couldn't be without it. The shipped it on a Monday and we got it on Tuesday. They we wonderful and got us up and running. They sent us a larger hard drive-went from 60 to a 75 GIG hard drive. We do not know what caused the hard drive to fail-suspected virus!! we think. But gateway was on top of things to make it right. Anytime I called I did not have to wait to talk to tech support-got them right away.
To me computers are computers-seems to be all alike!! But I appreciate the tech support that went with the computer we bought.
After we were up and running-one week later we got another virus and gateway had to help us put the system back up and running!! They were great with us!

Here I am updating the progress of my computer. Well I guess I wrote too soon. Now I need to take my computer to the computer store-which is 60 miles one way to drop it off. My son was with the tech support for more than 2 hours the other night. We could not read the cd drive nor the dvd drive. The tech support tried every thing with my son. Last resort we need to take it in. I had to call Toledo-long distance-no toll free number for the gate way store-then they said up to 10 days it could be in the shop. I was not happy and I voiced my opinion. I told them that they were misleading when they said I had ON-SITE warranty. Still have to take it in. I told them I needed my computer I cannot be without it for even one day-they didn't care. They basically said that I had to take it in and when they get to it they will fix it-had to wait my turn!
Oh by the way they think my motherboard might be the problem. I can sometimes use my cd drive-sometimes I can't. Sometimes I can use my a-drive sometimes I can't. I don't think I will be purchasing any other gateway for a long time. P.S. My compac (which is over 8 years old) has NEVER been in the shop to be fixed. My gateway HAS been fixed with in 7 months!!!!!!
