When I was looking for a new sound card, I was looking for something to replace my cheap $20 no-name brand sound card. I read mixed reviews on the SB Live MP3, so I wasn't quite sure if I should get it or not, but I saw it for $70 at CompUSA after rebates, and since that was a pretty good deal, I went ahead and bought the card.
Installing the card took me 5 minutes. When I turned the computer back on, Windows2000 detected the card, asked me for the driver installation CD, rebooted the computer and that was it. The new card was working. And I was impressed by the sound quality. Much better than that cheap $20 no-name brand sound card.
A lot of software came with the card. I didn't want or need most of it, so I just went ahead and installed PlayCenter. PlayCenter is terrible though. It refuses to connect to CDDB to get CD titles and it's very buggy, so I just decided to stick to Winamp for playing and AudioGrabber for ripping.
