I was in search of a new flat screen monitor to do graphics projects on. My main criteria was that it should not have the two faint horizontal lines, which run across the screen, due to the flat screen technology. Yes, call me anal, but even fingerprints on my monitor annoy me!

After perusing through the countless number of monitors at CompUSA, I found that the Samsung SyncMaster 955DF was the only flat screen monitor that met this criteria. The monitor itself was a good size, measuring about 18 inches across. Although the screen (display) size comes out to only about 14 inches wide, it is very deceiving. Just looking at the monitor, all I think is BIG. Being a graphic designer, I use at least four different programs at once. With the SyncMaster, having multiple windows open is not a problem because there is so much screen space! The only con about this monitor is the fact that it takes up so much real estate on my desk. The depth of the monitor is also about 18 inches so it takes up almost half of the width of my desktop! However, $400 dollars compared to almost $1200 for a flat panel, this monitor will due just fine.

The colors are bright and realistic, and there is no problem with glare. If you were to stare at a flat screen, and then switch to looking at a standard bubbly screen, you will definately notice the difference in the way your eyes adjust. Looking at a flat screen, the eyes just feel so much more relaxed!

$400 is a great price for flat screen monitors. If you don't want to spend more than a grand for a flat screen that comes on a flat panel, and you have a big enough desk to house this monitor, then the SyncMaster 955DF is the monitor for you.
