Pros: Power, space, reliable. Fair gas mileage for a van. Handles well at 80 mph.
Cons: Seats difficult to remove. Reacts to strong side wind at speed, typical of van.
The Bottom Line: If you need the space and hauling capacity this is the best minivan. Mileage fair at 21 mpg on road.

| jimjuliem's Full Review: 2000 Chevrolet Astro Passenger Van |
Several things come to mind after driving this vehicle for 8 years. We got a bargain because it was old inventory and came with a whole mess of accessories for an LS trim model. Running boards, center info council above center on ceiling, power package (more on that later), and cd player.
We spent $800 on the 60,000 mile check up, but that included a new driver side power lock solenoid and direr side power window motor. Other than those things, fan belt and and tires, we haven't spent much on it. We get 21 mpg on the road (automatic trans) with out much effort. For the largest mini van (based on Chevy s-10 truck, but the way) we like to camp in it, haul bikes, and often haul 6 to 8 people (wife's dance troop and my climbing buddies, but not at the same time!). Seems suited for what we use it for. Gas milage isn't great so we pick and choose what vehicle we use for trips into town. Seats are a struggle to remove, that is my only design complaint. Take the cross bars off the top rack to reduce air noise on a long trip if you don't need them. 4.3 liter engine has plenty of power.
