The Bottom Line I have never been sure why anyone cares who someone else marries, but then again I have never understood most of what religious folk's believe in!
What are your spiritual beliefs or religious affiliations? I am born Jewish. As for my personal beliefs, they are more along the lines of Agnostic. I think there is some sorta higher power hanging out. What it is, what it has to do with sitting in a pew wearing itchy skirts and worrying about who marries who-I don't know. Nothing I suspect!!! What is your sexual orientation? I am "predominately heterosexual". I have had relationships with females in the past, both out of curiosity and attraction. But my long-term relationships have been with men, I miss penises when they are not around, and I am now faithfully married to a man. How do you see your own religious/spiritual views as influencing your opinion of sexuality? I am pretty against any kind of religious doctrine that says how one is supposed to live (not morally-like do not kill. That's a given. But things that don't affect anyone else). That would make me be bothered by the religious arguments against gay marriage just because. (Required) How do you define marriage? A spiritual and legal commitment between two people who love each other to share their lives. What thoughts or reactions do you have to these two pictures? (all completely safe for work, home, etc.) 1.http://www.sfgate.com/c/pictures/2004/03/10/ba_knight01.jpg Jee, those men look taller than the guy officiating. 2. http://www.sfgate.com/c/pictures/2004/02/13/ba_gaywed_01_lm.jpg How sweet. How does one of Christian faith reconcile these two pictures? Is one right and one wrong? What reactions do you have to seeing these signs? 1. http://www.sushiesque.com/photos/boston_common_031104/dscn1373.jpg Don' t these guys have anything better to do with their time?? 2. http://www.sushiesque.com/photos/boston_common_031104/dscn1419.JPG See above. Why do you think the topic of homosexuality is so polarizing in religious communities? Because it is so personal, and so clear. To people who are religious, it is clear that men are meant to be with women. I am not religious and do not believe that-but that is my. But, everyone knows the statistics. Everyone knows that someone they know is gay. everyone knows that love is love and the heart rules. Any argument about religion vs. feeling is going to polarize communities. Should the government be in the business of defining marriage? Why or why not? Marriage is a legal union. Who makes the laws?? Would you support the legalization of gay marriage? Yes. I was at the reception for the first gay marriage in Canada. The men are my cousins and it was one of the proudest days ever. They changed my country for the better. My brother is gay and if I was religious I would pray for him to find a partner and make as strong a commitment as he wishes. Do you see any way of bridging this current divide in our country over "wedge issues" like gay marriage or abortion? Or should we even be trying? Is there ever a middle ground when it comes to religious folks?? What do you see America's view of homosexuality and gay marriage being in 100 years from today? What will those future Americans think of us in 2005, as they look back? I dont think it will change much. The bible isn't. Final thoughts or ideas: This was fun!! Thanx!!
