Popular Products in BooksThe Bottom Line I decided to take a little rest from researching and besides this looks like a heck of a lot of fun.
The Psychedelic Experience : A Manual Based on the Tibetan Book of the Dead by Timothy Leary, Ralph Metzner and Richard Alpert (2000, Paperback)
Its been 34 postings and almost 2 months short of a year since I last did one of these things, 10 June 2004 to be exact. I figured it was time for me to take a little break and dive into a write-off, write-on, write-under whatever they are calling these things these days. I hope I dont bore anybody too much, so without further ado, here is my entry.
1.) If you commute to work, what is the favorite part of your ride to or from your place of business?
Its listening to the Music on my car radio and its almost always turned to one of my local Oldies station. It used to be 96.9 Cool FM but someone new took over and 96.9 became the Eagle. The Eagle plays easy to hard rock from the 60s and 70s and specialize in playing as many Eagles songs as they can play, seems like one every other hour to me. Anyway I was kind of sad when the old, Oldies station went totally away because they play everything from the 50s to the 80s. I also felt bad for the old DJs/Announcers as they didnt keep any of them on. I had listened to that station pretty regularly since it switched from easy listening calling themselves WAVE Radio in 1984 or 85 so 20 years. The 2 morning DJs were the same for about the last 15, Dave and Heather and I really felt the most sorry for them being their so long and then POW laid-off, another corporate take-over takes out some more really nice people.
Anyway I listened to this new format on the same station number for 3 months mostly because there was nothing else I was interested in and I got tired of changing my cassettes in and out and my car doesnt have a CD player. About 3 weeks ago on a Saturday or Sunday I saw a TV add where something was being sponsored by 2 radio stations and was COOL FM and I thought it was either an old commercial that was re-cycled for some reason or they were back again. First thing Monday morning on the way to work I turned on 96.9 and it was still the Eagle so I decided to search the dial just in case and WOW, was I happy to find them back again down the dial at 100.7. They have been playing commercials for 3 weeks now stating they were on vacation for a while and it was fun but now their happy to be back on a new spot on the dial. Dont know about any of the old DJs weather they were on there as well or not because I have not heard any familiar voices so far?
2.) List something that only one other person who reads this will understand.
Its time to let the girls out of the hen house because their cackling is driving me bonkers. What say you Young Lady?
3.) Favorite Books:
The only book I can ever remember reading was one required for 7th grade English class back around 1965 I believe. I really did enjoy it very much and re-read it a few times but since then I have found it hard to concentrate for more than a few pages. The book was Kon-Tiki by Thor Heyerdahl. Its him telling a story how he and 5 others traveled across the ocean on a raft made of balsa wood from Peru to a Polynesian Island called Puka Puka sometime in the 1940s. Most of the story is vague to me being so many years ago but I seem to remember the book is about the long journey, sharks, storms, huge waves and everything that happened to them over the 4,000 plus mile journey.
Nowadays I just read magazines as the stories are really short besides they have a lot of pictures most of which are of pretty Girls and Women. My favorites are listed below in order with my favorite at #1.
1. EW Entertainment Weekly
2. US Weekly
4. TV Guide
5. Rolling Stone
4.) Most embarrassing moment?
So many of these in my lifetime I could write a book but they are all pretty boring so who would read it? Let me see if I can come up with a halfway interesting one anyway.
When I was going to college at S.U.N.Y. Ag. & Tech College in Morrisville, New York in 1970 I began drinking pretty heavily on the weekends. Every Friday night I would head down town to my 2 favorite bars/pubs and starting playing the jukebox, shooting pool and drinking. I used to go to this one place that had Tiny Bubbles on the Jukebox by Do Ho and when I was really drunk I played the song to death and for the life of me I cant remember why I loved this song so much. But Id only play it after 5 or so beers and the more beers the more I liked the song. There was this one Friday night I got so drunk in there I staggered up the street to the other bar I liked this was in the middle of Winter November, December somewhere along there. Tons of snow on the ground and really cold.
This bar had 2 sections to it and both sections had their own entrance doors. The front section was the bar, TVs, tables etc. The back section was more tables but also housed the jukebox and pool tables, fooseball tables etc. I stumbled into the back section and not one person was there it was around 2 AM I think. I went to the jukebox to play Tiny Bubbles but had forgotten this place didnt have it and got upset and sat back down. I put my head down on the table and thats all I remember. The next afternoon, I think I slept to about 1 PM, I woke up and there was a chair in the room. I wondered where the hell did that chair come from. My roommate stepped into the room a little latter and said to me Man, you were totally out of it last night. I asked him what happened and he said 3 guys carried me in the room with my arms tightly clinced around the chair and they couldnt get my hands loose. They told him they found me in the middle of the quad (large grassy area in the middle of a bunch of dorms) although it was covered with snow. I was in the chair slumped over snoring with my arms wrapped around the chair.
Apparently I had stolen the chair from the second bar and walked a mile or so with it then sat down to rest and zonked out. One of the 3 guys recognized me because he lived in the same dorm a few rooms from me and they tried to wake me up. They said I partially came too but was very groggy, disoriented and started signing Tiny Bubbles. They supposedly told me they would walk me back to the dorm and I said not without my chair. I grabbed it tightly, they tried to take it away and I started mumbling I want my chair and a bunch of stupid stuff they didnt understand. They finally gave up and first started to push me across the quad in the chair as there was ice underneath and it worked pretty good for most of the way. They then carried me up the back stairs 3 flights, knocked on the door and my roommate let them in where they told him the story. He was able to get me later after I released my hold on the chair into bed fully clothed.
Needless to say I told my roommate, Im very sorry and thanks for helping me. I dont have the slightest idea why I took the chair or how I got away with it? My roommate told me I needed to get rid of it today so I wouldnt get in trouble with the Dorm Floor leader. So I agreed and later that day I waited until he was out in the dayroom watching TV and he had left his room door open for some reason, maybe to hear the phone if it rang? I went around the back of the mens room/shower area and snuck into his room, left the chair and returned back the way I came. Later that day he knocked on everyones room to see if he could find out who put it in his room and why but nobody seemed to know or at least were keeping hush, hush. He never found out where it came from, especially since he didnt go to the bars downtown and he kept the chair in his room. Needless to say I had many a bad weekend and also again in the Army a few times. It was in 1984 that I went cold turkey and except for 1 frozen margarita at Epcot center every year I do not drink anything else.
5.) What kind of pants are you wearing right now?
Im wearing my pajama bottoms as I usually do on Saturday and Sunday mornings until I feel like finally getting dressed. They are a shiny dark green color and made of about 90 % silk and 10 % polyester if I can remember correctly since the tag has since tore off. My pajamas are also way too big for me as I bought them myself about 3 years ago and thought I should by a XXXL since I was getting so big, it appears that XL would have been more closer to what I should have bought.
6.) Gandalf or Yoda?
They are both really cool characters, but it seems Gandalf may have more powers than Yoda so I choose the White haired guy.
7.) What vegetable will you absolutely NOT eat?
There are a few I hate very much so Ive listed them here in order:
1. Sweet Potatoes
3. Cooked Carrots cold is okay
4. Cooked Broccoli cold for dipping is okay
5. Cooked Cauliflower cold is okay for dipping
8.) Favorite Movie Quote?
I have a bunch of them so here are just a few in no particular order:

You are in more dire need of a blowj*b than any white man in history Good Morning Vietnam (just watched it again a few days ago for about the 10th time)
3. In Sicily women are more dangerous than shotguns Godfather

9.) Favorite Song Lyric? I have 3 favorite songs now, each with great refrains:

10.) Did O.J. do it?
There is no doubt in my mind he did it. His lawyers were just to darn good and I believe a lot of people were paid off a lot of money to lie and cover up things. Scott Peterson did it also but he wasnt as lucky as Orange Juice.
11.) Most embarrassing childhood crush?
I have a few different ones at different ages:
1. Age 4 1955 My cousin Kathy (Blonde) I guess at that age its called puppy love or infatuation? I lived with her and her parents and brother for 2 or 3 years and had no other female contact that I can remember?
2. Age 14 1965 My 7th grade science Teacher Mrs. Campbell (Blonde) She was the hottest Teacher I ever knew or met.
3. Age 15 1966 Ann Francis in Honey West (Blonde) Very hot with a small mole on the right side of her cheek next to her lips that made her look so sexy.
4. Age 18 1969 Lynda Carter in Wonder Woman (Brunette) She just looked so perfect when she had that costume on.
5. Age 23 1974 Angie Dickenson in Police Woman (Blonde) What a hot looking butt.
There are many others but thats enough for now.
12.) Who is your favorite Golden Girl?
I never watched the show that awful much mostly because I didnt like Bea Arthur but since I have to choose I will go with Rue McClanahan as Blanche. Sometimes she would dress up really nice and have the right amount of makeup on when she was getting ready to go out on one of her many dates and she looked really nice.
13.) What is your favorite time period?
Very easy question indeed it is the 1960s without a doubt. Because of the great Music, cool clothes like tie-dye shirts began late 60s, a lot of great TV shows especially comedies and westerns. I also bought my second and most favorite car of all time during this period a 2-tone tan and white, 1969 Ford mustang convertible with a stick shift on the floor. I had huge dice hanging from my rear view mirror and a dancing hula girl magnet on my dashboard. There was also a lot of cool toys like yo-yos, Frisbee, mousetrap, slinky, play doh. I also learned how to play pinochle during the 60s and learned how to bowl.
14.) Movie you fall asleep to? (Not necessarily because it's boring, but because it relaxes you.)
I fell asleep one time at the Theater when I went to see Eyes Wide Shut because it bored me to death. After I woke up I walked out on the Movie. I have only ever walked out of one other Movie in my life. I dont remember the name of the Movie but it was a Dracula movie in Black & White and took place in the 1800s I believe. I usually love horror Movies, especially Vampire Movies and I have see a ton of different Dracula Movies but this one really sucked. I cant think of any Movie that ever relaxed me enough to put me asleep?
15.) Name 3 CD's you can't live without?

Yes not counting the loves I mentioned earlier I fell in love again for real in 1976, married her in 1978 and I am still in love with her.
18.) Band you'd love to see on "Bands Reunited"?
Not possible because one or more of them is dead but if they were all alive:
1. The Beatles
2. The Doors
Ones that could re-unite but never will Im sure:
1. Paul Revere & The Raiders (the original version)
2. The Monkees (all 4 original members
19.) Name a male and female celebrity whose fame completely baffles you?
Male Ryan Seacrest Can you believe he got his own Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last week? What the hell has he done besides is talk show and host American Idol, nothing thats what. They must be running out of people to give stars to?
