Poor customer support and sub-standard merchandise

I purchased a set of sheets that became as rough as sandpaper after four washings. Because I the problem occurred after 30 days of purchase, the company refused to refund my money, give store credit or take back the sheets. I've never in my 65 years had a set of sheets that fell apart by becoming rough. These were Egyptian Cotton 420 count one ply. I followed the washing and drying instructions with meticulous care. We did not abuse the sheets in any way. We slept on them. We did not cram the washing machine with too many items. This is simply bad merchandise.
The return policy is rigid, because this merchandise is obviously defective and I have no recourse. When I called customer service I was put on hold for a long time. I asked to speak to a supervisor but they disconnected me after a long wait. I followed these procedures twice, spent an hour on the phone for nothing, so I'm giving up trying to rectify the situation.
Also on another occasion I purchased something and I paid extra for faster shipping. The shipping was slower than usual, not faster, and I was not refunded the money for faster shipping.
Overall I would say that I am dissatisfied with their customer support and with their merchandise.
