Pros: It is VERY close to actually being there!
Cons: I wish they had included a few more songs.
The Bottom Line: It's typical U2: excellent in every way, and a must-see for any fan of good music.

Is it as good as being there live? I asked myself this question as I walked into the theatre with my girlfriend. I soon got my answer: a definite "Yes"! Granted, you aren't actually there, but the concert film makes up for it by taking you up on stage with the band...and zooms in close: you can tell Bono has his "5 o'clock shadow" going on, for example. The film also takes you down into the "pit" beneath the stage and the 3-D visuals do give the illusion of actually being there. You "see" the smoke inside the theatre, confetti falls all around you, and it even looks like a soft drink gets spilled all over the people in front of you! The 3-D effects are a technological masterpiece, and more importantly, not the least bit "cheesy". There are a few moments where Bono actually invades your personal space as he reaches out to you and it seems that he is right there in your face. Personally, I thought it was a cool effect, but I have had a few friends joke that that was a "little too much". However, this effect only happens (I believe) twice throughout the movie, so if your personal space is important to you, don't worry. it's only two brief moments!
Another cool feature about the movie is that is was shot at different locations in South America, all outdoor stadiums. U2 is one of the very few acts in the world that can fill an outdoor sports stadium, and it is very cool to see large, 60 thousand plus, enthusiastic crowds going crazy over every song the band plays. Speaking of which, the concert's lineup is as follows:
Vertigo
Beautiful Day
New Year's Day
Sometimes you Can't Make it on Your On
Love and Peace or Else
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Bullet the Blue Sky
Miss Sarajevo
Pride
Where the Streets Have No Name
One
The Fly
With or Without You
Yahweh (performed inside of the closing credits)
My only complaint is that I wish the concert contained about 3-5 more songs. However, despite this, I have to rate this concert 5 stars. Everything was A+, it's rated "G", so you can bring the kids, and it constantly moves and doesn't ever slow down a bit. If you can, check it out!
