On June 26, 2008 I received a Tracfone email soliciting 2 specials: add 60min or more and get 30 min free promo code 54626. a second offer states: add 200 min or more and get 50 min free promo code 59775. when i clicked on the html link i got the tracfone menu to purchase/add airtime and entered my serial number. the next page showed the deals, and i clicked on 200 min, and typed the 59775 and hit next. a popup showed me that the promo code was expired. in 24 hours from sending! this is a BAIT & SWITCH. i made 4 calls, and was disconnected 3 times. on the fourth call, i was transfered 3 times, and explained the problem each time, eventually after 37 minutes (!!!) a sales rep agreed that since i was made an offer of 50 min, she would manually enter the bonus min and override the expired promotional code.
this was so painful i cannot tell you. perhaps one hour was spent and i had to explain 5 times, this problem. this is a BAIT & SWITCH practice, that i'm not sure i could survive a second time.
think carefully before doing business with TRACFONE, they make mistakes, offer things that aren't valid, then wear you down with disconnects and time on hold and transfers. eventually, i got my 250 minutes, but it was very painful, and again, not worth this a second time at all! if this happens again, i'll throw the fone in the trash and go with VerizonWireless.
