Abe's of Maine - Wrong product delivered. Sloppy or bait and switch?

I recently made a purchase through Abe's of Maine am unhappy as I received a different item from what I ordered. I have no idea what possessed me to order from this retailer as I almost always read reviews before making a purchase.
I ordered a digital $900 SLR, lens and flash. The ordering process was fine but, I was asked to call in to "confirm" my order before this store would ship. I found out the actual purpose of the call was to upsell me on overpriced accessories. I didn't appreciate the pushy tone the thickly accented New Jersey salesman gave me and I declined his solicitations. Aggressiveness and rudeness does not put me in a buying mood. At that point, I should have gotten a red flag and canceled the order altogether.
The box with said items showed up about four days after the order, so the delivery time was OK. I was very surprised and dismayed at the small box the camera and accessories came in as I'm used to well packed boxes from other retailers. The shipping box was packed with just a thin plastic air pack loosely thrown in. Everything within the box had been subject to rough treatment because the camera box was open and its contents were partially out. The other boxes were also scuffed and damaged as well. If the box had been properly packed, this wouldn't have happened.
Now we come to the worst part. I got the WRONG lens! What I got was the inferior old kit lens and not what I ordered from the website. The shipping order shows the correct lens so I DID order correctly. When I make a near thousand dollar purchase I expect the correct items! I've never had a problem with this from major retailers.
I am going to have to try to RMA this and judging by reviews on this site and others, I'm going to have a fight on my hands. Now that I started looking, I have found and endless stream of complaints about this store all over the Internet. Simple business sense dictates that if you treat your customers right they will return. As it stands, I absolutely won't buy from this store EVER.
