Stella, yep, this is one really LOUD phone (if you set the ringer volume that way). If "ringer adjustability" were the sole determiner of this model's merit, I'd have rated this product five stars!

Stephen, dictionary.com provides the following definitions for recherche:
1. sought out with care.
2. very rare, exotic, or choice; arcane; obscure.
3. of studied refinement or elegance; precious; affected; pretentious.
Although I'm not sure that all of the above pertain to this bottom-end AT&T model, I relished your quip. ;-)

By the way, if you're truly curious about the aforementioned GE model, here's the URL for the Epinions review that I wrote for it:

You can also behold that "white" model at such stores as Wal-Mart.
Currently, I own a specimen of the closely related "black" version (model 29586FE1-A) of that same GE product, and (knock on wood!)--so far--it's behaving better! (I'll review it eventually.) You can see that black version at such stores as Office Depot.

I love to read your reviews as they are so informative and logically laid out. However, they make me see how much I have to learn and how much my own reviews lack in detail. The way your review is written made me want to go out and find the GE model that you so dearly miss! Hope all is well and thanks for giving me a goal to try to attain.
