I bought this item as an open box buy at circuit city for $100. When i got it, it took me about 5 minutes from start to finish to get the software loaded on my computer and transferring music. The sound is great. The same if not better than many higher priced mp3 players.
So far, the only complaint that i have is that i cannot figure out how to charge the battery. It works once i plug it in and push play, but im sure there is another way to do it.
There is an equalizer and great menu for other settings on the player. It is very durable, and it comes with a good carrying case. I have taken it running with me and it did not skip at all.
I think the best feature of the hipzip is the disks that it uses. Rather than pay more for the memory than the player(like most other players) you can buy disks, which hold 40megs each for very little.
This is a definite recommendation as long as you can get a good deal on it.
