The Bottom Line
For an Online Clothing Store Eddie Bauer is one of the best I have ever used. It is the only online store that I use consistently to buy clothes.

I have been shopping at the online Eddie Bauer store for about a year now. There are distinct advantages to shopping in the store versus online. I will attempt to compare those, as well as write about my experiences with the online store itself.
Eddie Bauer department store vs Online Store
The Eddie Bauer online store has these advantages
1) More size and selection -
I am a size tall and the department store I shop at seldom has pants in a tall, but the online store almost always has the design, color and size that I want. Since I am tall I also have longer feet than the average female, and the department stores never have my sizes, but the online store always does.
2)You don't have to leave your house!!
I like not having to leave my house to shop.
3)Clothing Descriptions
For an online store, this place has great photos and descriptions of clothing. You can enlarge and zoom in on clothes, and you can rotate some articles of clothing.
Advantages to shopping the actual department store
1) You can try it on -
the department store gives you the advantage of trying clothes on and seeing how they look. I went to the store and figured out what size I wore, then ordered it online in a size tall.
2)Clearance sales
The department stores frequently have "clearance sale" racks of clothing, which is nice because you can get clothes for dirt cheap. The online store also has clearance sales, but they aren't quite as cheap, plus you must figure in shipping.
Online Eddie Specials
The online store does frequently run sales and specials. Every so often they have a "free shipping sale". To take advantage of the sale you either have to order a certain dollar amount of clothing (usually $100) or you have to have shopped there before and they occasionally send you an email with a "promotional code" and you can enter that and get free shipping. I try to do most of my shopping with the free shipping deals, because I don't like spending my money on shipping.
Also, once you shop at the online store or via catalog, Eddie Bauer sends cards in the mail like 10% off your order or $15 or $30 off your order, these usually come with little/no strings attached (except you must spend at least $15 dollars, and pay for shipping.
Order tracking and Account Management
They have an account management system at the online store. You have a name and password that you chose after your first purchase. You can log in and manage your account. It allows you to track previous purchases, purchase the same thing, and track your online order as far as shipping goes. I have noticed that my packages arrives about 1-2 days before it says it will online. So that is always a nice surprise. The account management system is nice because you don't have to re-enter your information each time you make a purchase.
Pleasant experiences
I have only had pleasant experiences with the online store. I accidentally must have clicked twice on submit order and was billed for and received two identical orders. I called Eddie Bauer to report the mistake, and had less than a 5 min. wait. They had me return the package, they credited my account and paid for insured return shipping, so the duplicate order did not cost me a dime. I was relieved because I thought I would have to pay for shipping since there was question as to whose mistake it was.
