this year, there was a major Aztec exhibit in NYC. Also earlier this year, I was at the center of what was Tenochitlan, looking at the excavations ot the Templo Mayor. It was a society driven by paranoid religious fanaticism even more than ours (though ours is moving in that direction, complete with preoccuption of the ending of the present world).
