The Bottom Line We all have our favorites...these are mine.
Well, I think I may have developed the writer’s block bug once again because it’s been a while since I’ve written anything (or even felt the desire to write anything.) But, I came across this little write-off hosted by captaind and figured, "Why not?" A write-off’s a write-off, so why not join. At first, I figured it would be fairly easy – I mean, it’s only 4 questions. But I have to admit this does take some thought. So, without further adieu, here’s my contribution. Thanks Dave, this was fun! What category have you had the most success in? Well, that depends on what you mean by success. I don't have any hats or anything like that, but in my opinion, I think I do fairly well in Home and Garden and Music. Lately, I've found myself writing in these two categories the most and have gotten to know some of the people in these categories fairly well (more in H&G than Music) but I feel pretty comfortable in these areas. So far, I've gotten a lot of Most Helpful ratings for some of my music reviews and I'm pretty proud of those ratings. I also like to write in the Movies category, although sometimes it gets a little difficult for me. Not sure why, but sometimes I feel it's a little challenging to write in this category. Am I getting my point across while doing the movie justice (or injustice if it sucked?) What category do you write the best reviews in, overall? Personally, I think I do my best writing in the Music category. When there's an album (or by today's standards CD's) that I really love, I can go on and on about the many memories I recall when I hear a particular album. There's something about music that goes to the depths of my soul and touches me in a way that's unlike any other experience. My tastes in music varies and I think it shows in the reviews I've written so far. Sometimes, it will take me a while to write about a particular album or artist because I need to become a part of the music in order to truly write about it. I have a number of albums that I need to write about, but I want to make sure I do them the proper justice before I submit them. I've also found myself going back to some of my older reviews and revamping them just to spice them up a little bit. Plus, I'll listen to those albums/CDs again to get a fresh perspective on them. What category do you enjoy writing in the most? That would have to be Home and Garden and Music. I'm home all the time now, so aside from my TV addictions (gosh what am I gonna do now that all my fave shows are done for the season), I'm cleaning the house while listening to music. What a perfect combination. Not only do I get my house looking spotless, but also I can act the fool by dancing around my house in the process. But seriously, I'm very comfortable writing in these two categories because I'm more familiar with what they have to offer. What category do you feel most passionately about? Oh man, this is a tough one. For non-product categories, it would have to be the Writer's Corner. Here I can be original, express my innermost thoughts and be real. It's the one area where you can truly express yourself without having to make sure you follow specific guidelines. For product/money-making categories, it's between Home and Garden and Music. I guess you can say these two categories are just my bag, baby. I do hope to spread my wings once the baby's born and test the waters in Kids and Family when the time arrives. I'd also like to get back in the Books category, but sometimes it just seems that to be a good writer here, you've got to capture all the aspects of the book you're reviewing. But I do love a challenge, so this may work for me. And there you have it - these are my favorite categories.
