What category have you had the most success in? Success in which way is my question? As far as amount of dollars which so many measure success in I have to say Computer Hardware at an average of $26.08 per review, however, I have only contributed three reviews there. If I went with the late Frank Zappa's immortal words "We're Only In It For the Money", maybe I should be writing there a lot more often. Electronics has double the input from me at 6 reviews but with half the average per review at $13.00 per. That's still pretty successful in terms of IS. Education, Online Services, Home and Garden, Kids and Family, Movies and Books have offered me averages of $1.25 and up to about $3.00 and more per review depending on the category. Now the Category I write most in, Travel, has about 250 reviews from me but the average per review over almost three years is just $1.00 per review. Of course this includes recent reviews that have not had the time to build much IS at all. This is my lowest payback area and in fact it is the only category where I did not get any IS at all on two reviews. At the same time this is my most progressive overall area in reference to activity. More in a bit. My other category where I have placed much effort is Restaurants where I come in with about 100 reviews at an average of $2.60 per. That makes the monetary totals of my top two categories about the same even though I have double the reviews in Travel. Now as far as category activity I have to say that in bulk numbers Travel is the highest in light of how many reviews I have posted and the hits they receive. If we are looking at comparisons to others on the site, I happen to be #3 in Overall Travel reviews by activity and #10 in Restaurants. I am proud of the fact that I am #1 in both Travel and Restaurants in the only two full years I am here 2003 and 2004. To date I am #3 in Travel and #5 in Restaurants for the year 2005. What category do you write the best reviews in, overall? When I travel I get enjoyment in three different ways. The first is in the planning. The second is the trip itself and lastly is collecting our pictures and putting together a photo journal. Epinions has afforded me the opportunity to continue that third part of the enjoyment by providing a forum where I can talk about my adventures. The Travel Category is what drew me into Epinions. In turn, when it comes to writing Travel review I aim to cover most bases that I feel are important for those planning a trip. Painting a clear picture of a destination, good or bad, through words that describe my experience, is a way to bring information to other travelers. What category do you enjoy writing in the most? I happen to enjoy two categories equally. I love writing in Movies. There is something I particularly enjoy about sharing what I observed in a film and then comparing it to how other perceived the same movie. I also enjoy sharing information about a variety of books whether they are Children's Books, Political Books or Travel Books. There is definitely something special about sharing our personal experiences of the arts. What category do you feel most passionately about? If this has to be a category where we earn IS then I take the road saying that anything I write about is important to me and I write with passion if I am sharing my experience with others. Having said that I have the most personal passion when I write in the Writer's Corner. The feelings I expressed in a piece about 9/11 comes to mind immediately but I have also contributed compositions about my family. I posted how my brother is my Hero. How the world is a better place because of my mom. I have spoken about some of my children and special days in our lives. One Valentine's Day I posted an exposition about my wife, how we met and how special she is to me. I've also been able to have fun in that category in W/Os and in just lettin' loose at times.
