Here is some basic information about the All Star Music Resort.
ALL STAR MUSIC RESORT
1801 W. Buena Vista Drive
Lake Buena Vista, FL
Phone: 407-939-6000
There are a total of 2000 rooms. Each room is 260 Sq. Ft., Which means they are just slightly smaller than those at the moderate resorts, are. (314 sq.ft.)
Most rooms contain 2 double beds, a small table with 2 chairs, a TV (with a special Disney cable channel that tells about WDW and it’s entertainment), a dresser and a clock radio. The bathrooms have a single sink and mirror in a vanity area that is separate from the tub and commode. There are some handicap rooms that has a king-size bed and a shower only in the bathroom.
Check-in time is 4 p.m, but you can always check in earlier, then check your luggage with the luggage service and head to the parks. Luggage service runs every hour. They will hold your luggage till your room is ready then they will deliver them to your room.
Check out time is at 11:00 A.M., but you can ask for a late check out time of 1 p.m., but remember to do this when you check IN. At check out you can “store” your luggage till you are ready to catch your ground transportation to the airport.
For a room closest to the food court, Intermission and the bus stop area ask for a room in the Calypso Building. The next building over is Jazz. Many people believe that Jazz is the quieter of the two buildings.
The All Star has two pools. The front pool has the Three Callebrellos statues in a small island area and shaped like a guitar. It is located between the Calypso Buildings and a coin operated laundry facility is at this area as well.
The back pool is in the shape of a piano. Out on the deck of the pool is a keyboard. There is a statue of Ariel and Flounder which is a wonderful picture opportunity. We took one of our girls next to them. It turned out fabulous.
Maestro Mickey gift and sundries shop is where you can rent a refrigerator for $10 a night. Outside the shop is the beautiful Melody Hall of Stars.
In 1997 we stayed at the ASMu. We were a party of 6, which included two adults, and four children. We had to have two rooms. FYI: each room holds 4, but for each adult in a room over two, there is an additional nightly charge of $10.
The rooms were very clean and neat. The daily maid service was very efficient. At that time they would include small Mickey soaps, but they now have a soap dispenser instead.
Guest Services is located in the lobby. They were very helpful in helping us attain our Theme Park tickets as well as making Priority Seating at the restaurants.
The kids LOVED the All Star Music. The main hallway is called the Melody Hall. It has pictures of many famous music artists. We took many pictures along that hallway next to favorite musicians and characters.
The resort had a food court that had many different types of fast food and fresh fruit. That's also where you can purchase mugs that can be refilled free for the duration of your trip. Note: These are one of our favorite souvenirs since it has the name of the resort on the mug. We would hook the mugs by their handles, to our fanny bags that we took to the theme parks. This allowed us a no cost drink from the water fountains there. (Bottled water is anywhere from $2.00 to $3.00 each. With six people that can add up quick. Here is a link to the menu for Intermission food court.

We loved the pool! The kids still talk about the times that we spent at the pool after a long hot day at the parks. Lifeguards are not always there late at night, especially on evenings that it showers. Next to the Character Breakfast at Chef Mickey's, the pool time was the children's favorite. The last night of our vacation, each of the girls lined up for a hair wrap. They were set up by the pool and you can get a hair wrap for around $2.50 an inch plus any extra charms. This is a cool souvenir and within reason to those with short to mid-length hair. My daughter's hair was down to her waist and the cost was $35.00+ with a simple gold ball. It stayed in her hair over a year after our trip. If you choose to have a hair wrap, choose your colors wisely. My daughter went with her school colors, which included white, which over time turned dingy.
The transportation service was fine and if you go there with the mind set that all good things come with patience, you'll be very pleased at the convenience that it has to offer. As a matter of fact, while we were waiting for the bus to come one late evening, we could see the fireworks display from the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park. (An enjoyable way to pass your time waiting.) There are times that the All Star Music shares a bus with the All Star Sports resort.
There is an arcade and gift shop at the resort also. Although the gift shop is small, it even has things such as lunchmeat, bread and condiments that would help make a quick thrifty lunch.
Overall, the All Star Music was enjoyable. If you have children and are there on a budget, the AS resorts give you the best of both worlds, a beautifully themed resort at a value price. If you’re a kid at heart and you want the Magic of Disney in the form of an affordable on-site resort, you can have a good time.
