A First, For Me

The Bottom Line Getting to know authors through write-offs is not only fun, but gives us all a chance to sample the wonderful diversity of the Epinions community.
I've never contributed to a Write-Off, but have really enjoyed reading the entries. It's fascinating to learn how others think and feel about so many things.
When I came across daniellebeeson's idea for a write-off (at http://www.epinions.com/content_3940917380), I thought it would be a fun way to start sharing some of what resides in my head! So here goes...
(1) Age: 48 - I came out with the '57 Chevy. :-)
(2) Sex: Female, last I checked.
(3) Children? One son; a Master Mechanic for Mercedes-Benz who keeps my cars running smoothly, and my life full of smiles.
(4) Siblings? I had one sister; her name was Lisa. She died in a car accident when she was 15. A friend of hers was driving the car that she was in, and he was drunk. He went off the road going 65 miles an hour, and hit a tree, flipping the car in the air. There were six of them in the car; all were seriously injured, but my sister was the only fatality. I was 17 at the time, so I have spent most of my life without her. Words cannot express how much she is missed.
(5) If so, are you older or younger? Older.
(6) Favorite Color? Pine Green. Trees are the most majestic of all living things!
(7) Do you collect anything? Yup. Wolf items, such as plates, steins, statues, posters, paintings, tees, etc. I have a room in my house that is dedicated to wolves, and I adopted one of the SawTooth Pack.
(8) If you could be any animal what would it be and why? Humans are, of course, animals. We are not mushrooms or weeds (or at least most of us aren't). But I admire the wolf the most, for it's perseverance, strength, and sense of unity. They have survived despite all the human atrocities waged against them.
(9) Who is your favorite actor? Johnny Depp. He remains true to his love of acting for the sake of the profession, not in a mad chase for the almighty dollar.
(10) Favorite actress? Katherine Hepburn. She always had fun in her work; never took herself too seriously, and led a good life.
(11) What do you hate more than anything? People who pigheadedly think they must convert everyone on the planet to their own point of view. This includes our current President.
(12) If you could be the President for one day what would you do? One day isn't hardly enough time to undo all of the problems that we have allowed this President to get us into; but for starters, I would fire every single cabinet member and start over. Oh...and Gale Norton would be out on the street in two seconds flat.
(13) Who is your best friend? My son.
(14) Are you passive or aggressive? I am, by heritage, a relative of a Viking. And the word "passive" doesn't fit well with "Viking," does it.
(15) What is your dream job? Wildlife photographer...living in the north woods, in a log cabin.
(16) What is your worst habit? I don't have it anymore. I quit smoking four years ago. :-)
(17) What is your greatest asset? The ability to really listen to people, to appreciate and understand their opinions and ideologies, all without judging or trying to change them.
(18) Would you rather:(a)WALK (b)DRIVE (c)FLY? Walk, definitely. Life is too short to miss anything along the way.
(19) If you went camping, you would sleep:(a)IN A TENT (b)UNDER THE STARS (c)IN A HOTEL? By definition, I'd have to be in a tent, wouldn't I? I mean...how does one go "camping" at a hotel?
(20) If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why? I'd love to be able to get into other people's minds in order to help them see the other person's side. Just imagine how great the world would be if everyone were tolerant of everyone else's views!
(21) Favorite cartoon character? Foghorn Leghorn!
(22) Party: ALL NIGHT LONG OR WHAT'S THAT? Depends on what's being served. :-)
(23) How many reviews have you written? 59 and counting.
(24) How many members trust you? 84. And thank you to all of you.
(25) Who was the first member to trust you? Good heavens..I honestly don't remember. That was five years ago.
(26) Who was the first member you trusted? See #25 above.
(27) Favorite category to write in? Home and Garden. Everyone needs to buy those kinds of items!
(28) What is the best review you have written? That would be up to the readers, wouldn't it?
(29) What is the worst review you have written? The same as question #28, but in my own personal opinion, it would definitely have to be one of my most early reviews. Back then, I didn't have a clue as to what people wanted or expected from a review. But bad as they are, I won't delete them, since I don't think it's fair to do that.
(30) If you could be one member, who would it be and why? DrDevience, of course. She's got Viking spunk!
(31) If you could change one thing about the WOT, what would it be? To be able to remove the names of people who trust me that I would prefer didn't appear on my list.
(32) If you could change one thing about the Ratings system, what would it be? Make it mandatory that anyone leaving a Somewhat Helpful or Not Helpful rating would have to explain their reasoning. All too often, someone simply gives a bad rating and the author does not benefit from any explanation as to why.
(33) If you could change one thing about the Writing of reviews, what would it be? Make it easier to insert links, italics, bold print, and other styles to the text. The current system is horribly clumsy.
(34) If you could change your member name, what would you change it to, and why? I'd drop the "KS" and just leave it at "Claire." Too many people think I'm from Kansas! (The "KS" are the initials from my middle and last names.)
(35) Who is your mentor here at Epinions? That's a tough one. There are far too many great people here. But the first two to pop into my head are Lorace and Dawn.
