As a member of the Yahoo group Epinions-for-Fun I have come across many talented prolific writers I might not have seen otherwise. One of those writers is CaptainD (aka Dave) who is hosting this impromptu write-off. What category have you had the most success in? I lost my Music hat many moons ago, but I would say that is the one I have enjoyed the most success in. I remain around the 100 mark in popularity overall. It doesn't show up on my profile page because I don't have a review in the top 1000 most popular. I am fortunate enough to stay in MattA75's good graces to get invited to his annual I'll Show You Mine write-off three years running, so I must be doing something right. What category do you write the best reviews in, overall? I would say Books would be my best reviews. Music can be a more subjective area to write about. In Books, I seem to have to pick things apart more. On a few occasions I even took notes as I was going along to write a better review. My review of the Thomas Jefferson biography American Sphinx is a favorite. Anything I've reviewed by social commentator Stephen Carter you should find very readable. What category do you enjoy writing in the most? Music would have to be the answer here. I think about reviewing something for awhile before I review it. I have to give it a minimum of three listens before I will try to tackle it. I usually go through a process in which I take notes then listen to it again as I am writing. Some discs are difficult because I can't be objective about how much I love them. I tend to get very picky about my music reviews and take too much time to write them if you count it on a work versus payment scale. I suppose I could say that about anything I write on here. Travel and Destinations are also fun to write in because I have used those kinds of reviews to choose where I will vacation, so I put a lot of effort in there. My review of the casino in Montreal and the hotel on the same trip were a pleasure to write since I had so much fun up there. Those kinds of reviews can really save someone aggravation and/or money if the place is really bad. What category do you feel most passionately about? Music is the answer once again. I put a lot of time and effort into my reviews. I can get chills listening to music. I don't think I ever have from Books. Even if it was only a few cents, it was a distinct pleasure to get a bit of reward for writing about my all time favorite group Led Zeppelin. I think I have reviewed all the studio albums. I have the new Robert Plant disc now, so I will have another chance to regale the unfortunate reader with all that knowledge bouncing around there.
