The Bottom Line So, Dave, do I get my eternal happiness now? If not, you can write me an I.O.U..
I like write-offs where the answers come easily to me. I don't find myself uninspired; I merely find myself wishing to have more time for inspiration. Since brief answers, at best, appear on my Epinions Public Profile page, I thought I'd use this opportunity to elaborate on my work here. The questions here come courtesy of captaind: What category have you had the most success in? My biggest success lies in the Movies category simply because I have dedicated so much of my creative energies on that category. When I first arrived at Epinions five years ago, I made it my business to absorb as much detail about a movie I had seen as I could. I still do, but I make more of an effort to fact check on the Internet, especially making many visits to the IMDb before I post an article. Besides, as I've grown older, I've spent more time taking in films than I've spent with any other hobby of mine. While I may have my highest popularity rating in the Movies section here, more people have read my review of "Beckett Football Card Monthly" (now entitled "Beckett Football") than any other piece I have written (over 2,100 visits at this point, overwhelmingly from non-members). What category do you write the best reviews in, overall? I don't believe that I write better in one category than I do in any other category. When I post a product Epinion, I do it because I feel I can offer sufficient knowledge and insight to make the review the best that I can make it for both myself and for others. If I have to choose one category, I would again say Movies without hesitation. When I look through my film comments, I sometimes find that people have quoted my review in providing their analysis of my piece. That has seldom happened in any other category where I write. What category do you enjoy writing in the most? It would be easy for me to answer every one of these queries with the word "Movies." The truth is that I enjoy films, I enjoy music, I enjoy sports cards, and I enjoy writing in the Member Center. The hats I've maintained in Movies have been a source of pride, and a way of knowing that I'm doing something right. However, the following words, which I've seen on this site from time to time, also ring true: "So many Epinions, so little time." The comments and the hats I've earned in Movies fuel my continued enjoyment of posting in that category. I may write more film pieces that number of pieces in all other categories, but lack of posts does not mean lesser enjoyment in any other area of Epinions. What category do you feel most passionately about? I'd like to think my passions are present, regardless of category. At various times in my life, I can say that may passion has been greatest in film, in music, in sport, and in writing in general. I've dreamed of great success as a writer, but I am grateful for any amount of success my time at Epinions has given me. Every piece needs to be a piece of passion as far as I am concerned. Passion, combined with fact, is the responsibility of every person who writes a product review. Passion is equally necessary when one writes fiction or non-fiction in the Member Center. If the passion is not present, it is time for one to reconsider what one is doing on Epinions. This has been my entry in the Categories write-off hosted by captaind.
