FrontPoint Security was a bright light in a dark week where it took four visits by the plumber to install a new faucet, three trips to the home improvement store to find a vanity top that wasn't damaged, and an hour and a half to re-instate my original contract with AT&T after simply changing my cell phone number...
The system arrived promptly as promised. The same guys I spoke with before ordering were available to answer my questions about the system and the monitoring agreement. Their equipment is easy to set up (they do not charge extra for step-by-step, real-time, on-the-phone technical assistance with the equipment set-up process, even though I used the diy option). I was very pleased to learn that my old GE Simon 3 system could be re-programmed to work flawlessly with the new service, which saved me a heap of money.
FrontPoint offers a generous free trial period to test drive their system with its unique interactive, total remote control (via computer or pda). After the free trial, the customer can opt for basic monitoring - only without the need for a land line, which already sets FrontPoint apart - or the slightly more expensive interactive plan. Unlike most companies that stick customers into the higher priced program by default, requiring the customer to opt-out, with FrontPoint, the customer decides whether or not to upgrade - at any time after the trial, no immediate decision required.
Of course I want the upgrade! It's a great price for amazing access to information about what's going on at my home when I am away. The web-based control panel is easy to use for anyone who is comfortable with a computer. New equipment - such as a remote control thermostat!- can be added along the way (they ship, the customer installs, a phone call activates the new equipment with no additional charge for monitoring it).
FrontPoint has a business model that is a breath of fresh air.
