Hey AJ!
Boy is Indiana strict! I'll know to be careful whenever I ride through there....if I ever do that is.
So funny about the broccoli and carbonated drinks. Time to pull out the ole' beano.
hehe

Hey Jan. Sorry I am late responding. Chili Releno is a large pepper stuffed with beef, covered with cheese and baked in the oven. It sounds like it would be spicy hot because it is a pepper, but it is not. I really like its flavor.
Thank you for stopping by and please forgive the late response, I think my comment notifications were turned off of this review.

Toots'n'Gloves!!! (Reply to this comment)
by AinsleyJo
Just think what an interesting person you'd be to walk behind if you drank carbonated drinks with your broccoli caserole!!! LOL
I think you might be right about the arrival of metal driving gloves.
Here in Indiana, they're raised the speed limit on interstates because people are going to speed anyway, so they might as well make it legal.
Somehow, though, they seem to have enough cops to regulate what goes on INSIDE your vehicle (such as whether or not you're wearing a seat-belt).
Now, I'm personally a stickler for the use of seat-belts, but I'm still not in favor of our "Click It Or Ticket" law where even adults can be fined $25 per person who isn't buckled up.
Don't even get me started...
Yep! Them gloves are headed our way!
Happy Eating!
AJ :o)

What's Chili Releno? I used to love broccoli and rice casserole. Had a lot of bad fatty cheese. I don't know how I'd remake it now since I don't really care for soy cheese. Anyway, you might try carob chips if you can't have chocolate so much.

Hmm,
And here I though that Toe-Maine was some sort of nasty foot infection common only to the Northeast United States. (grin)

No Scott dear heart. You didn't. I'll just be more watchful when I go there. I'll keep an eye out on what all they grab with those gloves on.
I always like learning tidbits of info like that. Hey, you may have saved me from Toe-Maine poison one day.
:-)
(I have to play on words because not sure how to spell Toe-Maine and too tired (lazy) to look it up!)

Oh that will definitely cut down on the cooking time. I kin jes slap on them blackeyed peas and chitlins (after I clean em out real gud). That'll make it MUCH easier this year. OK Claire, I won't have to hide out at your house, Alex is bringing the good stuff this year!
Ummmmm, alligator....I haven't had alligator in a while, those gators gotten smart and quit crossing that road where I used to scrape em up.

Hey Micah!
There is an inside joke here about "Bow Wow". One day at work, a couple of us went to Tiki Village and got some to go orders for several folks. The restaurant employees wrote on top of each box what was inside. When we took them back to the office, one lady looked at the top of her box and declared that they wrote "Bow wow" on top of the box. I can't remember what was written on there, but it reaaaaaally did look just like it said "Bow wow". She refused to eat it. We laugh about it to this day.
Anyway, I like Chinese food OK, but prefer to spend my $$ on Mexican.
Talk to yous later!

Patricia,
No Chinese food?? Ha, your Bow-Wow comment is great though!! Also, my mom would agree with you on the Thanksgiving comment. That is what inevitably happens at everyone's dinner. Sucks huh?

Gloves or not? (Reply to this comment)
by puckmugger
Patricia,
I'm right with you on the hand washing after using the restroom and touching money and then food. Both are actually grounds for the board of health revoke your permit in most states. However you wrote - There is a place here called Off The Grill where the employees use plastic gloves when they handle the food.
In a couple of counties where I managed restaurants the board of health either did not allow gloves or highly discouraged the use of them. Why? Gloves create more problems with cross contamination of food than bare hands. Gloved employees tend to rarely change them. Gloves often give a false sense of cleanliness causing employees to continue working in circumstances where they should have washed their hands and changed gloves.
I think another part of the problem is that putting on gloves takes a lot longer than simply washing hands. It boils down to simple lack of time in a fast paced restaurant environment. It takes twenty second to wash your hands but it takes a few minutes to wash them and pull on a new pair of gloves too.
Sadly, gloves are not a solution to the dangers of foodborne illness.

Re: Was it the Calories or something else? (Reply to this comment)

Hey Ron!
It was the carbonation in the sodas. I cannot drink carbonated drinks. Ya, I agree there are some good diet drinks, but the carbon in the sodas .... hmmm, how do I say this delicately?.... hmmm, looking around to see if anyone else is listening and whispering in Ron's ear . . . . "the carbon causes gas."

Was it the Calories or something else? (Reply to this comment)
by JAGUARDOG
If it was the Calories in Soda that made you increase in width then why not try Diet Sodas? I know at first most of them taste terrible and bitter but after 3 or 4 weeks you not only get used to the taste most of them taste as good or better than the non-diet sodas?
