| ptrick02's Full Review: Sennheiser DSP 360 Digital Sound Processor |
I was totally intrigued upon seeing this gadget at ubid.com, and being a sound affictionado, I decided to take a chance and bid on it. It was a new unit, and I won that bid. I really wasn't expecting any thing great, even though I do know that Sennheiser makes good audio gadgets.
When my unit arrived, I set it up and hooked it to my PC, passing the sound card output to it first, then to the speaker system...and I was greatly impressed by the little gadget!! The construction is solid and not flimsy, and the sound reproduction from its DSP decoder is very good! It even has a 'test' button (commonly found only on the larger dolby capable A/V receivers) that does the 'hiss' test per speaker so that you can hear that it does passes all the speakers and that it is in DSP mode. And with the built-in amplifier, sound is kicked up with additional wattage, w/c is good when using headphones (w/c the unit has output for).
One thing about the price though, as there are sites that sell it for above teh $100 mark. This I don't understand though, but there are still lots of sites out there that sell it below $30. Go look for those - it isn't any different from the ones being sold for $100+, as I see it.
Too bad the unit only has a pair of audio in and out RCA jacks, but then again, that can be easily expanded using RCA 'Y' type connectors. And I really can't get enough of it, and happy to now have a DSP unit for my PC (no need to get another A/V receiver)! One good screamin' deal!!!
