Needing a break from my upcoming LegoLand review (there’s a lot to write!) I've been perusing the menus, recipe cards and grocery list of our fellow epinions writers. Today's article is just for fun and to support three_ster in his write-off. Join The Food Lover’s Write-off and let us know about your gastronomic favorites today. Thanks, Ryan, for the challenge.

What is your favorite:

1. Soft Drink
I'm trying to cut down on my sugar intake, but I love regular Dr. Pepper. I also like a lot of the organic sodas, too. I'm not a huge fan of diet drink aftertaste. Does a 7-11 slurpee count as a soft drink? I love those, too. Guilt, guilt, guilt.

2. Ice Cream Flavor
Mint chocolate chip or Ben & Jerry's "Totally Twisted" Mix of Cherry Garcia and Fudge Brownie, but I haven't seen it in the stores lately. It's potent stuff and takes care of my chocolate cravings for about two weeks.

3. Fast Food Restaurant
I love Rubio's grilled fish tacos. It’s Mexican Baja style grilled mahi-mahi with chipotle cream sauce, shredded cabbage and two corn tortillas, with Spanish rice and no-lard frijoles on the side. The lines can get enormous at lunchtime but they let you fax or call in your to cut down on waiting.

4. Type of Pizza
Easy - New York cheese pizza. To avoid a revolt, though, I'll also throw in a few Chicago names like Lou Malnotti's and Pizzaria Due.

5. Thanksgiving Dinner
The works. Turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, gravy, pumpkin pie, salad, homemade cranberry-orange sauce and green beans. The next day I love to have a sandwich with cream cheese, turkey and cranberry sauce and watch football with the family.

6. Snack Food
I'm trying to cut down, but I love the orange food group - cheetos, nacho cheese doritos, etc. Now that it's summer I get to eat all that great in-season fruit. I discovered my absolute favorite snack in Surf Life for Women magazine. You take a piece of sushi nori (seaweed paper), smash half of an avocado into it, add grilled chicken and an asparagus spear and roll it into a handroll. If you don't like nori you can substitute a tortilla or pita bread.

7. Side Dish
Homemade guacamole from the Chevy's Fresh-Mex cookbook.

8. Food to Eat While Driving
If I'm being good, an apple. If not, chicken nuggets.

9. Food for Breakfast
There's this place in La Jolla shores that makes an amazing huevos rancheros. The sauce is heavenly. I wish I could eat there every day. Also, there’s a place in Encinitas (north county, San Diego) that makes a smoothie with dates and crunchy local bee pollen. Order it to go and watch the soul surfers from the cliffs at Swami's. Highly recommended.

10. Sit-Down Restaurant
There's a combination Thai/Japanese restaurant near me that is the best compromise ever. I get to eat drunken noodles ("drunk with spices, not alcohol"), my daughter gets to eat chicken satay, and my husband gets to eat sushi. Everybody wins.

11. Italian Dish
Antipasto platter, homemade minestrone soup and chicken marsala. I’m also partial to stuffed baked artichokes, squares and red sauce.

12. Chinese Dish
Anything with lots of vegetables, no msg, and black mushrooms.

13. Sandwich
Roasted vegetables, buffalo mozzarella cheese and fresh crusty bread.

14. Cheese
Buffalo mozzarella, or asiago, parmesan or romano. I use a vegetable peeler for a restaurant-style garnish. Then I usually break off a piece for myself.

15. Donut
I gave these up years ago, but I used to like boston creme pie donuts.

16. Type of dessert
Chocolate mousse (dark chocolate) or crème brulee.

17. Type of Cake
Flourless chocolate cake, the richer the better.

18. Vegetable
Spinach, especially fresh spinach sautéed with garlic and sun-dried tomatoes with parmesan or asiago cheese. I also love Palek Paneer, a spicy Indian creamed spinach with broccoli, cardamom, fenugreek, green chiles, yogurt and yogurt cheese. I need to learn how to make it so I can be sure it’s available when it sells out at the grocery store.

19. Fruit
Mangos year round, especially frozen. I live for summer cherries, peaches and strawberries.

20. Food In Bed
None, thanks.

21. Beer
Sam Adams or the microbrew equivalent.

22.Drink With Dinner
Water with sliced lemon, lime, or orange.

23. Fruit Juice
I don't drink a lot of fruit juice because of the high sugar content. Did you know it takes about 10 oranges to make a glass of orange juice? Since this is about favorites, my favorite juice is Trader Joe's non-alcoholic piña colada pineapple/coconut juice. I also like fresh-squeezed lemonade with crushed strawberries. Yum.

and Finally...

24. What is your favorite meal?
A barbecue with wild salmon or marinated skirt steak, mushrooms, grilled red peppers, asparagus, corn on the cob and a salad. It’s the simplest meal I know, yet the most flavorful.
