The Bottom Line If you want to buy from them, here's my advice, "Don't."

I was shopping around for a Diamond modem. After doing a research on Yahoo! Shopping, I found out that Compuvest was selling it at a price much lower than the others. Not knowing there was a catch, I happily purchased one from them.
First of all, the item took years to arrive. I've made numerous online purchases and most of the items (even those bought from Ebay) were shipped within 1-2 days. When the order finally arrived, the invoice showed that it was processed days after I placed the order.
Yet this was NOT the worst part. The worst part was, the modem was positively defective. It didn't work at all. I had no choice but to return it. After reading the return policy on the back of the invoice, I realized how much of a fool I have been. Those were the most horrible return policies I've ever seen. Even for defective item returns, the customer is responsible for the shipping fees incurred during the return process, which includes the shipping/handling fee for a replacement product. However, if you only want a refund, you risk being charged a 15% restocking fee if they think the item is "non-defective".
Anyway, I still had hope that the modem I received just "happened" to be a defective one. Since they were also offering another modem at a very low price, I decided that I wanted that one instead. SO I told them that I wanted an exchange.
To be fair, the return/exchange process took much less time than the first time when I ordered. In about a week and a half the replacement modem arrived. But that's when my biggest frustration began.
This modem didn't work either. It was connected to the computer all right, but there was no dial-tone. Not believing that I had received another defective item, I tried in vain to make it work. Now I am facing the grim future of having to return it. This time I wanted no replacement or exchange, I want a refund!
O.K. Here's my total loss from this purchase : First order Shipping/Handling fee 6.62+return shipping fee 3.5+exchange item shipping/handling fee 6.62+return shipping (2nd time)fee+3.5=$20.24.
What's more frustrating is that the modem I ordered the first time is only worth $15. How ironic.
Of all the online purchases I've made, this one is the most frustrating. I haven't lost my faith in Internet Shopping but this is absolutely the ONE store that I would never buy from again, period.
