If your computer is defective, please take it in for a check up instead of buying parts which you can mess up on your defective computer!!!This business is for the smart technical people only, a person like you should have everything given to you on a platter, because you dont seem to know jack $hit about computer's!!!!!

Your experience was frustrating, but perhaps not typical. (Reply to this comment)

I can understand that you were annoyed, but I don't think your single experience is a fair representation of this merchant. It IS possible that both your modems were defective. But it's also possible that they were not installed properly. The computer industry likes to tell us that everything is "plug-and-play." But, in reality, things like dialup networking and driver installation can be a bit tricky.

You said that you "tried in vain" to get the modem to work. But you didn't mention whether you attempted to troubleshoot the situation -- for example: by testing the modem in command mode, checking COM port selection, or swapping out a working modem. This would have helped the credibility of your review.

My orders from CompuVest consistently arrive faster than from most other vendors. Orders and shipments are confirmed promptly by email. With the exception of the modem I described in my review, I've never seen a product misrepresented. And this one case was clearly an error, not a deception. The one time I've had to return an item it was refunded quickly with no questions asked, according to disclosed terms.

CompuVest is an outlet. The site is utilitarian and efficient -- but perhaps it's not the best site for those who expect the customer perks associated with "high touch" retailing or who do not have experience installing computer devices.

Re: Sorry (Reply to this comment)

I found the modem after doing a search on Yahoo!Shopping. Compuvest is an associate shopping site of Yahoo! So I didn't really go to their website and buy it. They have a large selection of products all right. But only on the back of the invoice do they tell you that most of the items they sell are "bulk" (white boxed) items. So the average price IS much lower. But if the product didn't work at all, I don't think all these attributes about low price and stuff matter that much.

but you tell me nothing about this store besides their return policies. How easy was the site to navigate? Did you have any trouble finding the modem? Is there a search? How well does it work? How is their selection? Their prices more generally? What types of shipping do they offer? Sorry but more details are needed.
