The Bottom Line Believe it when people say "live each day as if it were your last". Tell the people you love that you love them every day. Sometimes tomorrow never comes.
My husband passed away May 16, 2005. This was a very sudden and unexpected death. Kevin was 34 years old. We went to bed on Wednesday, May 11th just like every other night - a normal, happy, and we thought, healthy family of four. However, during the night, that all changed. Kevin woke up about 3 AM unable to get out of bed and by 5:30 AM was in the emergency room hooked to a ventilator and the doctor was advising me to contact all family members as soon as possible. He had a massive brain hemorrhage and had a very low platelet count when admitted to the hospital. It was soon discovered that he had a very aggressive form of acute Leukemia that had not been previously detected. After surgery to remove the swelling in his brain, we were told his chances for survival were poor. He held on for 4 days, but eventually his body just gave up the fight and he passed away on Monday, May 16th. I have been absent from Epinions lately anyway, but will probably be so even more now as I struggle to accept this and raise our children - ages 4 1/2 and 19 months - alone. Please keep me and my children in your prayers, and maybe soon I'll be back to Epinions. Since this site was such a comfort to me when I was going through another life changing event last year, I felt that sharing my story here would give me a little comfort, too.
