Extremely bad

I booked, 3 days in advance, a van with AVIS (Udine, Italy) for the weekend. At 4:30 PM on Friday, i.e., just 2 work hours before the delivery, AVIS phoned me that the van was no longer available. They did not provide me any equivalent solution (just a smaller and more expensive van that did not suit my needs).
After long phone discussions, and two extremely rude hang ups from the AVIS responsible of the area (Paolo, +39 0434 21925), I was informed that the problem was well known during the morning, and they did not informed me until hours later.
After one hour of further phone calls, I did manage to find another van, with another car rental company. Therefore, a van was available, and if I spent one hour to find it, AVIS would probably have spent much less time. Indeed, if I had been AVIS, I would have done exactly that: do my best to find an alternative solution to the customer. (And I was a loyal AVIS customer - until a couple of hours ago.) They did not do it; let me say, in polite words, that it was an extremely bad customer service. Also, "Mr. Paolo" (no surname) was extremely rude on the phone. As I said he hanged up twice, he spoke loudly, interrupted me, etc. No empathy, no apologies.
Do not book with AVIS; AVIS booking is nothing.
