Pros: Only legal Frs designed for auto. Now in Canada! Fully featured. Very powerful!
Cons: Incomplete scan function but locks on channel at press of transmit key.
The Bottom Line: It's the only legal radio of it's type and is terrific anyway!

What kind of crazy picture do they have above this article?
This is like no other FRS radio. I hope some one will fix that picture.
I live in Canada and am one of the first to own this very special two-way radio in this country.
FRS is new here!
I sent tons of emails to both RadioShack America and RadioShack Canada to get help so that this radio would be available to me in Toronto.
I finally got mine and am super happy with it.
In the USA this FRS radio is a part of the long distance record. 123.5 miles. N.C mountains.
The record was made by Hams and you can't get that distance yourself.
A bit of a description. The radio is built into the magnetic antenna mount.
This allows the radio to use the metal body of the car to be an important part of the antenna.
The body of the car prevents transmitted power to go up into space to confuse alien races.
The low output power is concentrated in a pattern that goes out to where the antenna works best.
There are no people under the surface of the earth that you would want to talk to and the signal does't go there.
There is no fade as you hold the FRS Microphone in different positions in your hand.
There are no batteries other than the one in your car.
This radio uses your cigarette lighter outlet for power and the mike is no more than a great feeling mike and function controller.
The performance is comparable to old style CB! Sometimes better, sometimes not!
If you have many FRS radios, you must have this one!
I could go on for an hour but I would rather you discover it for your self.
If you like to drive in groups of cars down the freeway, you must all have these!
They are a rather specialized design of FRS radios but seem very exciting to have in your hand!
For normal handheld radios, get Motorola FR-60's also from RadioShack.
