What movie whose title starts with an A do you think of first? (w/o)Jun 11 '05 Write an essay on this topic.The Bottom Line Another w/o... Roman (aka romasuave) is hosting a random movies w/o. We’re asked to think of a movie for each letter of the alphabet. It took me ages to finish my entry, but here it is : (These are just random movies that I have seen and are not necessarily my favorite ones.) Aviator The story of Howard Hughes. Leonardo Dicaprio was quite impressive and Cate Blanchett did an amazing job as Katherine Hepburn. Bad Education The super hot Gael Garcia Bernal plays Angel, a very mysterious actor, whose life we get to know throughout the film. The end is totally unexpected. Captain Sky The story is set in the 30s but it has elements of sci-fi mixed with historical acts. It’s quite a strange movie and Jude Law is just hilarious in it. Dancer in the dark This films stars Bjork and tells the story of a poor worker going blind and trying desperately to save her son’s live. The music is gorgeous and the whole movie was incredibly touching. Eyes wide shut I really don’t get all the fuss that was made about this movie. I didn’t see anything shocking in it and in fact, I found it pretty boring. What a waste of two good actors! Freaky Friday Jamie Lee Curtis is hilarious there as the teenage girl trapped inside her mother’s body. Another highlight is when the really cute Chad Michael Murray sings his very own version of “Baby One Time”. Gattaca Ever wondered how far genetics could go? Gattaca offer a rather pessimistic vision of it and a scarily realistic one too. Honey Jessica alba does know how to dance and she’s a good girl, that’s what the whole movie is about. It’s as sweet as its title suggests. I heart Huckabees I got to see this one at a premiere for free and I’m so glad I didn’t pay anything to see it because it was a terrible movie. The actors were amazing but sadly there was not plot whatsoever. Jumanji I saw this on TV the other day. Boring. Knight’s Tale When one of friends suggested we rent this movie, I was really skeptical. But now I’m glad we rented it as it was one of the most hilarious movies I’ve ever seen. It mixes knights and bits of our modern culture and it’s insanely funny. Lord of the rings I saw only the first episode. The setting looked pretty but it was very boring. Moulin Rouge This movie tells the story of a Moulin Rouge dancer with a poet. It’s mostly a musical movie and the songs are great. Some are originals while some are covers from Madonna to David Bowie. Notting Hill Julia Roberts plays a movie star who falls in love with a guy who works in a bookshop. This is another cute movie of hers and Hugh Grant is very funny and charming. O A sort of modern version of Shakespeare’s Othello. God it was boring. I even fell asleep. Pearl Harbor This one is about a love triangle during the Pearl Harbor attack. It was a tad long, but I loved the love story. Quick and the dead A western starring Leo Dicaprio and Sharon Stone. So boring. Rainman Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman are great in this movie. You totally believe in Hoffman’s interpretation as an autist and Tom Cruise is incredibly moving as the guy who learns to like his brother despite his former reluctance to have anything to do with him. Spiderman I saw the first two episodes and really liked them. Tobey Maguire looks so lost it’s sweet and I’ve always like Kirsten Dunst. There’s something about Mary I saw this movie so many times! All the characters are hilarious and completely out of their mind. I can’t believe that Cameron Diaz accepted the “gel” scene. U-Turn Jennifer Lopez and Sean Penn play in it. I saw it ages ago and don’t remember the plot well. Virgin suicides The story of five delicate sisters, oppressed by their very strict mother. The whole movie is mysterious and the five girls are fascinating. What women want What happens when a guy gets to hear the thoughts of women? This happens to Mel Gibson here and it’s not as great as it sounded at first. X-Men The story of the X-Men. Not a bad movie but it just lacked that special something. You’ve got mail Two people who hate each other in real life fall in love on the Internet. A good concept, too bad the movie was so long. The Mask of Zorro I couldn’t find another movie with a “z”! This flick stars Catherine Zeta-Jones and Antonio Banderas. A great movie for the whole family. Ta da! I’m finally done. A funny thing would be to try to review each of these movies but I’m not sure I’ll have the patience. Next challenge : Jaguardog’s w/o.
