Anybody with a home printer dreads when you need to buy ink. It seems like such an expensive purchase, and one that has to be made all too often. Also, if you have printer like mine and have to search and search for the right size ink tanks, it can get annoying- I have to drive 30 minutes to an Office Max to get the right ones for mine.
So, the usual dilemma came up that I needed printer ink but did not want to drive to go get it, nor did I really have time to. So, I decided to try one of these online stores and order some and see how it went. I went to Ebates.com and did a search there for stores that carry ink, and I came across www.4inkjets.com. By making a purchase there, I would get 17% back of my purchase price, and after looking at the other sites that sell ink, this had the best prices. So, I decided to give it a shot.
Its really easy to find what you are looking for on the site- on the left side they have all the brands they carry, so I just clicked on my brand, Canon, and then I was taken to the page with all the model numbers they carried ink for. Then, I clicked on my model (MP830) and I was then taken to the page where they had not only the Canon brand ink, but also remanufactured ink, and an ink refilling kit.
I had heard of remanufactured ink cartridges before, but never seen any available for my particular brand. What happens is those that recycle ink cartridges (like myself) they take them in and clean them, refill them, and program them so that they will register with your printer as a new ink tank. If you choose to buy these- be sure to get the ones that have a chip in them, rather than the kind without a chip because then you either have to take the chip from your used cartridge and stick it on there (which I bet is messy) or you have to disable your printers ink cartridge register thingy where it tells you how much ink you have, and youre then just going on the blind on how much ink you even have.
I knew I didnt want to mess with an ink refilling tank- knowing myself I am pretty clumsy and messy and it would look like an octopus squirted ink all over the place by the time I got done, I skipped that and just looked at cartridges. As for the prices, well the name brand Canon ones werent too bad- $14.95 for the small color ones, then $16.99 for the larger black cartridge, which is about what I pay at the store. But the remanufactured ones had an even sweeter price of $7.99 for a black and then $6.99 for color. I could get double what I normally get for the same price, so I decided to try the remanufactured ones- which come with a one year guarantee on the site- so I figured I couldnt lose.
On the site I saw a little banner ad that had free shipping for orders over $50, and I bought $64 worth of ink (2 of all the 5 cartridges my printer uses), so that was good for me. They accept all major credit cards, but I decided to use the PayPal option.
So, after I PayPaled, I got an email saying they got my order and also a receipt from PayPal as well. A few hours later, I got another email saying my order had shipped. Now, the order was coming from Long Beach, California, so I was on the other side of the country so I expected it to be a few days. I ordered on a Friday, and on the following Monday my order showed up via USPS. I thought that was really fast!
After checking everything, my order was right and they didnt send any dried up cartridges or anything. I was worried that my printer wouldnt accept the remanufactured ones, but I have used a couple now and have not had a problem with that. Also, I had read online that some had said it sacrifices image quality when you use the remanufactured ones, but I have not noticed any of that- but do note Im just printing on plain paper and not doing photos or anything.
Also, I got back $11 of my purchase price through Ebates. By buying remanufactured ink tanks, its also helping the environment as well. I had a great experience with this store, and I would buy from there again.
