I was brought up with AAA as a service in my family. I was given a AAA membership from my family as a college graduation present and was satisfied by the piece of mind given by holding such a policy.
Like insurance, you never know how good or important it is until you need it. My car died on the beltway in DC on a hot May day. I called AAA to get a service person out and they said it would be about an hour before somebody could get me.
Ninety minutes later, no tow truck. I call back in and wait 20 minutes for somebody to “check” on my service issue. “It will be about an hour” they said. Annoyed, but stuck, I waited an additional two and ˝ hours (Totaling 3 ˝ hours) for a basic tow ride three miles up the road. I could have walked to the station in less time!
I started shopping around and realized that most car insurance companies offer roadside assistance with most all of the benefits of AAA at a much lower cost. While I can’t comment on their service, I can say that it cannot be worse than that received by me with AAA.
Look elsewhere if you are looking for auto assistance
