Caroline, My Dear! (Reply to this comment)

How are you sweetie? As I have told you, I have to switch to Internet Explorer to read your reviews. My AOL browser just crashes each time I try. That and much business in my life has kept me away from you.
This was certainly another great write up, however, I didn't know a darn song or group. How uncool am I?
I need to get out more. I hope that life is being good to you and that you are feeling chipper and bright these days.
As Always,
Deb~

Birthday Girl
Sorry its taken me so long to rate this. Scissor Sisters actually is on my want list ;) I'd also quite like to listen to Postal Service, since I've taken an interest in I Am The World Trade Center and many people say they are similar.
Anyhow, many Happy Birthday wishes xxx.

Hey Matt sweetie,
I'm glad you liked the Dios song, it's really fun and catchy. I suspect you might like a few of the tracks from this mix.
I know, I know.... your dolls. Now that I have a new computer after my other one bit the dust a couple of weeks ago, I promise to get off my duff and send them to you.

Hey Brian!
Wow! I own (and like) seven of these tracks, which i think makes Sue no less than 43% as hip and with-it as i am.
Don't frighten me that way. Sue is not allowed to be hip and with-it, that would upset the planetary alignment... or something.
But yeah, he's onto some stuff.
He is! And so are you!
Iron & Wine have yet to do much for me, but definitely I'll have to check that Aberfeldy website.
I loved the Iron & Wine track and I hope you liked Aberfeldy, let me know!
As always, it's lovely to watch you opening your musical world to such total weirdos. Meaning us ... well, also the bands.
Hahaaa! But you're all such lovable weirdos... well.... most of you.
Hope to see you soon!

SD,
Hey, great collection of songs from Mr Cradle.. and oooeeeooo, the Scissor Sisters! (does a silly dance) Oh! and Franz, the Wrens, BJOOOOOOOOOOOOOORK and RJD2, all capped off with The Postal Service, who I think are playing at the festival at the end of the month. I'd double check, but I'm to lazy.
What a coincidence, they make me do a silly dance also! I'm sooooo jealous you get to go to Roskilde at the end of the month, Morts had better take lots of pictures for me and don't forget to kiss Joake for me too!
Been there, done that, done the wild crazy chair dancing with slightly camp undertones.
It's a long time since I found music so completely infectious and happy-making. It's almost an orgasm on a disc.
Awwww, I'm sorry you've never got Björk and that you don't understand her. But what you have to realsie is, she isn't there to be understood, more, appreciated for her generous Icelandic craziness. I got her about 15 years ago after hearing "Deus" ("He wasn't white and fluffy, he just had sideburns.. and a QUIFF!!") and "Birthday". Maybe you should talk to Tats, then you may realise Björk is actually quite normal.
So you're saying Björk is normal compared to Tats? That both scares and intrigues me.. and reminds me again that it's far past time for us to meet. I know I shouldn't try to understand Björk and should just enjoy her music; I can't help it though, it's my analytical side coming out.
Anyway, nice write-up, nice collection of songs. Eric done good.
Thanks honey... yes, he certainly hasn't failed me yet (and I doubt ever will.)
Will speak to you soon... I've been busy at work and trying to sort stuff out for Jan. PLUS! my PC went tits up, belly up and everything else up (except boot up, which is important). After what happened to yours, that's just plain strange.. anyway, waiting for the new one to arrive. So I'll be back on after I get that up and running....
How was that for a tangent?
Well, we've talked since you left the comment but I hope things are coming along well and you have the new one up and running now. I'm looking forward to when Jan arrives, it's been too long since he and I talked without you relaying messages between us. Not that I mind you doing that, it's rather fun when he and I talk about you.
Ooofda!

Wow! I own (and like) seven of these tracks, which i think makes Sue no less than 43% as hip and with-it as i am. Scissor Sister, Franz, Postal Service, Wrens, Arcade Fire, Bjork, Mirah ... it is so non-obvious when Eric and i trade mixes with each other that we overlap so often. Not because we of course don't know the tracks already, but from the sheer bemusement my mixes provoke in him. But yeah, he's onto some stuff.

This album has been on my "must buy" list for a while and should be on yours.

I have never "got" Björk and probably never will

Okay, this just happened with a voxpoptart review and now it's happening again. Not only do I know of some of these tracks (Shins, Iron&Wine, Wrens) - I own them. It's starting to freak me out - this confluence of what I listen to and what the rest of the world listens to.
Fine write up of what sounds like an interesting mix. Now I have to go lie down, this hipness thing I have going on is making me loopy....;)

You are right, I do need to read more music reviews. I've been mostly reading travel cuz I so want to go to some of those places.
I wish I hadn't given my old UmmaGumma album to my X, I'd much rather have sent it to you. Maybe he'll give it back if I ask nicely.
We shall see.

Errrrrrriiiiicccccccc!!!!!!!
You really picked apart this mix well. I am sort of surprised at the stuff you really liked and didn't like. But it tells me something about your tastes that will be good for future reference.
I was surprised also, some of the things I expected to love I rated lower than some things I wasn't familiar with. Overall though, an outstanding selection yet again.
Especially glad you liked The Wrens and Postal Service tracks, too. "Ex-Girl Collection" seems to become more relatable to me with every passing year. :o) But thanks for marketing me, anyway, in the opener.
Ha! I couldn't resist doing that, I hope you don't mind!
I am indeed shocked you didn't like "Neighborhood #3", mostly because everyone I know on the site who enjoys "Funeral" cites that as their favorite, or the one that really got them into the album. (Shrugs).
I did say it's growing on me, don't give up on me yet please. I'd like to hear the whole album, especially those first few tracks, since they do all go together. I should have mentioned too, I was impressed with their lyrics.
Nice write-up, fun to read! Glad you enjoyed your mixes.
Thank you, you ROCK!
Caroline
PS. About the title: I was stumped for one and so sat back to just listen to the mix without trying to analyze it, hoping to get a brainwave. When the Scissor Sisters track came on, it occurred to me that getting a mix from someone is sort of like voyeurism. I got to peek in your window and see what you listen to, so I went with it on the spur of the moment.
GO PISTONS!!!!!!!!

Patricia!
Don't feel old, just read more music reviews! (I've learned tons from the excellent reviewers we have here, including the creator of this mix.) I think you'd like many of these selections, especially the slower ones and even the more up-beat ones, since you like Floyd.
And that brings me to: you win my heart for mentioning Floyd. Ummagumma is a cool album but I haven't heard it in ages. I had it a long time ago but lost track of a whole bunch of music in one of my many moves years ago; I need to buy it again. (Can you believe it was first released in 1969??!!!)
Actually, "All The Trees of the Fields Will Clap Their Hands" is taken from the Bible. (Isaiah 55:12, I just looked it up.)
Always a pleasure to see you!

Hi Liz!
Ah, looks like an excellent mix, for it includes artists I've put on other mixes, including yours. Which reminds me, didn't I give you the same Franz Ferdinand track? Hope not...
It sure is! And you're right, it is the same track, I'll figure out something when I review yours (which will be soon, right after I do an actual album review since I'm in danger of forgetting how to do those, it's been so long!)
And Power Out is awesome! I can't believe you don't love it! It's my favourite on the album! Ah well, different strokes for different folks.
No doubt, I'm in the minority there and perhaps it just needs time to get into my head. I did say in the review that I like it more each time I hear it, so don't hate me yet.
yet another excellent mix review from you. Is my mix next? And I hope i get an Eric mix. maybe when he sends me a plane ticket to Michigan.
Thank you so much, you're very sweet. As for the other, ummmmmm I dunno but get him to send a plane ticket also.
Thanks again!

Hi Paul,
Eric sure is good at putting together an excellent selection, perhaps we should make him start an "Eric Mix of the Month Club!"
Your description of Rocket Ride is both freaky and very accurate. Thanks for dropping in!

I am not familiar with any of these tunes. One song, however, (All The Trees of the Field Will Clap Their Hands) brings to mind an old Pink Floyd tune....see if I can conger up the correct name of it..... oh I forget I don't have to rack my brain, I have the help of google:
Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving with a Pict.
Now why did that song make me think of this? I dunno it just did. OK, being quiet now and going away.
Hugs to Caroline.
