The Bottom Line The bottom line is recommend General Music Reviews....Generally.
I received an email, not long ago, about a write-off that would be hosted by Ron Drain aka jaguardog and wasn't sure if I could actually sit down and find an artist that I love using each letter of the alphabet. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find one for each letter, and except for two (that darn 'I' and 'X') I was finding much more than I ever thought I would. A. Trace Adkins .One Hot Momma and it is One Hot Song & Video! Louis Armstrong - What a Wonderful World and what a wonderful voice. I saw Mr. Armstrong when I was a very young girl I dont think I was old enough to appreciate it B. Garth Brooks .The River is my very favorite, but I love most everything he sings I sure wish he would come out of retirement. The Beatles of course. Hey, I was a child of the 㣠s and remember all of their music first hand. Ugh, trying to pick a favorite is like trying to pick a favorite child impossible to do. Brooks & Dunn - Boot Scootin Boogie makes me want to get up and dance everytime I hear it. C. Chicago - Hard to Say Im Sorry, If You Leave Me Now, and Saturday In the Park are among my favorites, but most anything that Chicago sings is a song Ill love. Credence Clearwater Green River, Lodi, Bad Moon Rising and Have You Ever Seen the Rain CCR is another group that I remember spending a lot of time listening to. Terri Clark - I Just Wanna Be Mad for a While this song fits so well. Sometimes when we argue with the one we love, it takes a little while before we can be close again this song says it all. Jim Croce - Time in a Bottle, Photographs and Memories, and One Less Set of Footsteps are among my favorites. D. John Denver - Sunshine on My Shoulders and so many other John Denver songs are special to me. It was a different place and time and seems like a whole lifetime ago. E. The Eagles ..I saw them in concert at Anaheim Stadium many, many years ago. In a word..fantastic! Desperado, Peaceful Easy Feeling, The Best of My Love, and Lyin Eyes are great and bring back a lot of memories. Sara Evans while Im not familiar with all of her songs, I do love Born to Fly. F. Freddie Fender - Before the Next Teardrop Falls This song can bring tears to my eyes. G. Andy Griggs - My Kind of Beautiful is just beautiful. Amy Grant Fathers Eyes. H. Faith Hill - Breathe just takes my breath away. I. I'm sure there has to be one...but I couldn't think of anyone. J. Alan Jackson! I love all of his songs, so picking one favorite is impossible. I love Remember When and Where Were You are two favorites, but he is another singer that I love most any song he sings. Elton John - Bennie and the Jets has to be there simply because I remember my oldest daughter singing it when she was around 4 or 5 very nice memory. Rocket Man, Your Song, Levon and Tiny Dancer also rate high on my list. K. Toby Keith - You Shouldnt Kiss Me Like This, As Good As I Once Was and of course for my daughter (Hi Mel) I have to include I Wanna Talk About Me. Sammy Kershaw -She Dont Know Shes Beautiful. Carole King Its Too Late, I Feel the Earth Move and Home Again all kept my stereo busy playing night and day. The Kingsman - Louie Louie came out when music ruled my days and nights the controversy around this song made it even more popular. L. Loggins & Messina Loved their music and really love House at Pooh Corner, Dannys Song and Angry Eyes. Lynard Skynard - Sweet Home Alabama makes me wish I was born there. Lonestar Front Porch Looking In is a more recent hit of Lonestars and a song that I enjoy on every level. The music and the lyrics are both fantastic. M. Tim McGraw - Angry All the Time, My Next Thirty Years and Shes My Kind of Rain are among my favorites from this handsome cowboy. Anne Murray You Needed Me N. Willie Nelson - Always on My Mind, On the Road Again and Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain are songs that I love hearing Willie sing but then he sings everything great. O. The Oakridge Boys - Elvira reminds me of a dear old friend that died of cancer when he was much too young. I cant hear this song without thinking of Bob Strong. RIP my friend. Roy Orbison - Pretty Woman. P. Elvis Presley - It wouldn't be a complete list without the King. Brad Paisley - Little Moments Like That is a cute song with a great video as well. Brad has a great voice and does serious as well as whimsical songs. We Danced, She Said Yes and Whiskey Lullaby are more great Brad Paisley songs that I love. Pink Floyd - Money, and Breathe are two of my favorites from the Dark Side of the Moon Album. I swear we wore this one out, back in the day. lol Q. Queen Okay, I know everyone used this one, but I really like Bohemian Rhapsody and We Are the Champions .that one makes me think of my second daughter, her singing this song as a child and being a Champion of the Woold. Nope not misspelled, that is how my little Shawna pronounced it at the time. R. Kenny Rogers -Lady and She Believes in Me there is something about his look and voice, what a man. Leon Russell - Lady Blue let this song begin to play and my heart melts. This is me and hubbys song and while it never became wildly popular, it sure is popular with us. Love you honey. Linda Ronstadt Blue Bayou, When Will I Be Loved and Youre No Good are all Linda Ronstadt favorites of mine. Would you believe I got to see her with the Eagles and Jackson Browne? How cool is that? S. Blake Shelton his song The Baby brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. Sung from the youngest of four childrens, point of view it makes me think of my son, who is the baby, and just how much I love him. Simon & Garfunkel - Sounds of Silence and Bridge Over Troubled Waters are on my favorite list for this duo. Seals & Crofts (does anyone remember them?) - Summer Breeze, We May Never Pass This Way Again and Ill Play for You were among my favorites. T. Shania Twain - From This Moment while I like a lot of Shanias music this one will always hold a special place in my heart. My third daughter (Chalathra on Eps) had this song playing during the birth of one of my grandsons...I cant hear it now without getting all misty eyed. U. Keith Urban Youll Think of Me, Somebody Like You and Days Go By are but a few of my favorite Keith Urban songs. This guy is amazing. V. Luther Vandross - Love Wont Let Me Wait, Always and Forever and his version of Impossible Dream are all soft sentimental songs that I love. W. Lee Ann Womack - I Hope You Dance...okay, I know it is a bit of a sappy song, but it says so much. X. Just couldn't do it. Y. Neil Young While most of his music that I remember is more from the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young days, I do love Heart of Gold. Z. ZZ Top Legs not sure if I know this song from the radio, or from the darn LEGGS commercials, but either way I like it. Whew, this was a challenge and so much fun. As I was searching I found lots of memories and it sure has reminded me of some great groups, singles and duos that I love. A great big thank you to Jaguardog for this fun and challenging write-off. |
