The Bottom Line (or at least until I find more great music)

It figures that music is what gets me out of my self-imposed exile. I love the idea of Jaguardog’s Write-off so here’s my eclectic list:

A
Arden, Jann – “Gasoline”

B
Beatles – just about everything EVER (It helped having a Beatle freak for a roommate)
Brooke, Jonatha - “Linger”, “Inconsolable” (lots more) I think my introduction to her was by sarah_knipper

C
Crenshaw, Marshall - “Whenever You’re on My Mind”
Counting Crows - Raining in Baltimore“” (early stuff)
Costello, Elvis - “Radio Radio”, “Everyday I Write the Book”, “Watching the Detectives”
Colvin, Shawn - “Sunny Came Home”
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - “Helpless”

D
Drake, Nick “Pink Moon”, “Which Will” (thanks for turning me onto him, horswispr)

E
Eagles – the whole Hotel California album is a masterpiece (after all, it contributed to my entry into a blissful write-off lo those many years ago) Hotel California Review

F
Fogelberg, Dan –(this one is kind of embarrassing, but I swear I liked him way before he did “Longer”) I much preferred “Be on your Way”

G
Griffin, Patty -“Rain”, “Nobody’s Crying ”, “Living with Ghosts” is brilliant: “Forgiveness”- My all time favorite female singer!! Inspiration for my best musical review (I wrote 2): 1000 Kisses

H
Harrison, George - if for nothing else, for my favorite all-around album: “All Things Must Pass”, but also in honor of my old roommate who would have done anything for “Harry Georgeson”
Hornsby,Bruce – “Dreamland”, “Gonna Be Some Changes Made” (new stuff, especially)

I
Indigo Girls – “Closer I Am To Fine” AND “Galileo” (and actually plenty of others)

J
Joel, Billy –“Until the Night”
John, Elton – “Rocket Man”, “Tiny Dancer”, “Razor Face” (old, not new)

K
Kottke, Leo – “Pamela Brown”, “Standing on the Outside” - He is the most incredible guitarist I’ve ever heard, or ever will hear (and a hilarious conversationalist in concert).

L
Lennon, John - “Imagine”
Loggins and Messina - “Peacemaker”
Liebert, Ottmar - “Snake Charmer” (never can remember the names of the songs)

M
McLachlan, Sarah - “Fumbling Toward Ecstasy”
Dave Matthews Band – “Crash” and mostly everything else One of my two favorite bands recording currently

N (I must have enough Ls and Ms to make up for no Ns)

O (No excuse for this one….Never got into Phil Ochs???)

P
Peter, Paul, and Mary - “Early Morning Rain”

Q
Queen (great idea borrowed from spus025) and others - “Bohemian Rhapsody”

R
REM – “Find the River”, in fact everything on “Automatic for the People” -The other of my two favorite bands recording currently

S
Stevens, Cat – “Tea for the Tillerman”, “How Can I Tell You”, “Hard Headed Woman”, “Sad Lisa” and so many others (wish he hadn’t stopped recording) My all time favorite male singer
Supremes – “Love Child”, “Stop in the Name of Love” – (love that Motown…guess I should have also included Marvin Gaye in the Gs and the Temptations in the Ts)
Simon, Paul – with and without Art Garfunkel – “Kodachrome”, “Hearts and Bones”, the whole “Graceland” album
(But I do love naphtalia’s idea of Allen Sherman)

T
Taylor, James - “Long Ago and Far Away”
Toad the Wet Sprocket - “Windmills”
Train - “Drops of Jupiter”
Talking Heads - “Stop Making Sense”

U
U2 I keep wanting to like them more, but I do like “Vertigo” and “I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For”

V (hmm)

W (lots o’ Williams, I guess)
Williams, Lucinda – “Car Wheels on a Gravel Road” (the song AND the CD. Love her version of Nick Drake’s “Which Will”…maybe more than the original
Williams, Dar - “Beauty of the Rain”
The Who - a must mention for “Tommy”

X (I’ve got nothin’)

Y
Young, Neil “A Man Needs a Maid”, “Old Man”, tons more
Yorn, Pete- “Life on a Chain” (kind of a new favorite)

Z
Zappa, Frank (just kidding, my tastes aren’t really THAT eclectic)
