The first thing that strikes you about this 6x9 is the magnet size. Not so much that they are tall, but that the magnet is rather large around. Were talking about 3 to 4 inches wide, probaly the biggest magnet I have ever seen on a 6x9. Be sure they will fit before you order, or you could be hacking and sawing to get them in. The woofer is made out of a meshed material, and seems very strong. The super tweeter is very large. I am particularly impressed by the crossover design, which not only uses two capacitors, but a coil as well. The cap/coil design really works well, and helps eliminate overlap of mids into the tweeters, without killing the sound. Overall this 6x9s design is well put together.
Be warned, do not exspect to run these speakers off of a headunit, aftermarket or not. These will require a amp to work properly. I am using a 400.4, and they seem to have just the right amount of power.
The highs are clear, and the bass is deep, although I have hear deeper from a 6x9 that is not really its job. The true area they shine in is mid and highs. The mids are full, and the highs are clear without getting terribly bright. If pushed to far the highs began to acutally hurt my ears! That is saying something for a car audio veteran like myself. The nice thing is that there is no reason to turn them up that loud, as this 6x9 has excelent qualily at low volume, which is unusuall for car audio. Many speakers require you run them close to max to produce the best sound, but these start sounding excellent at about 1/4 volume.
You should be able to pick these up for around 120-150 dollars. This is cheap for a set of high end 6x9s. Many like polk list at over 220 dollars, but I cannot imagine that they are that much better
