The Bottom Line Ah, come on, you know you want to join...it was fun, I'm sure I left out many of my FAV's!

OK, so Ron got the idea from Romasuave in the movie category, and thought it would be a good idea for the music category. Actually, I thought it was a great idea! So, to join the W/O, I decided I would name the very first Artist/Band in music that came to my mind while going through the alphabet from A to Z. This was a random exercise, a quick thinking list of the first music that came to my mind and then I added a brief comment about my very first thought and what should have been my FAV selection(s) to begin with...in alphabetical order:

AC/DC (Australian Hard Rock band)

For some reason, the first albums in my collection have always been AC/DC and if you must know, “yes” I still listen to them on occasion and they actually did come to mind first, before Ayreon, Avenged Sevenfold, AFI, Atreyu and Anthrax?

Beseech (Gothic Metal band from Sweden)

I’m still in shock? Perhaps it was the album cover art that came to mind first - one of my very FAV art covers of all time. In any event, this band came to mind before Blind Guardian, Black Sabbath, Black Crowes, I’m so ashamed...

Children of Bodom (Melodic Death Metal band from Finland)

Obviously, there was little competition here, although Charon and Cheap Trick came to mind? Yes, Cheap Trick for puke sakes...at least I’m not afraid to admit it!

Dream Evil (Heavy Metal band from Sweden)

I don’t know for sure if this band actually came ahead of Dream Theater, but Dream Evil (the band name) just sounds so much better to me. The real surprise here was that both of these came before Dark Tranquillity, Dimmu Borgir and the Dave Matthews Band...I still can’t believe it?

Ensiferum (Melodic Folk/Viking Metal band from Finland)

One of my FAV Metal bands of the moment...before Edguy, Evergrey, Entwine, Eve 6, Exodus...Damn, what’s Eve 6 doing on my mind?

For My Pain... (Gothic Metal band from Finland)

I think I got a thing for music from Finland, don’t you think? Realistically, no contest in this alphabetical letter. I simply could not come up with any other artist...and no, Fantasia doesn’t count.

Gwar (Thrash Metal band from USA)

I know, I still can’t believe this came up before Green Carnation and Graveworm, considering I’ve been listening to albums by both these artists lately, inexplicable I tell you...lol...to think that Guns N’ Roses only came to mind as I was writing this paragraph is simply unexplainable?

Helloween (Power Metal band from Germany)

I actually had a hard time thinking of another band starting with the letter “H”...then Heart and HIM came to mind and then Hoobastank?? What was that? Perhaps just a blip on my mind or a very scary brain fart...I don’t quite know! Scary thought just the same...

Insomnium (Melodic Death Metal band from Finland)

Another one of my FAV bands of the moment. This came before Iron Maiden, In Flames, Into Eternity and Billy Idol...Uh!

Judas Priest (Heavy Metal band from the UK)

I’m just so happy that it wasn’t Journey or Jem that came to mind first...although Jesse Cook popped up, I figured he didn’t actually qualify in the letter “J”...

Kamelot (Progressive/Power Metal band from the USA)

Although Kalmah and Katatonia also came to mind, in fact, I think all three did at the same time...and no, KISS and Kid Rock never crossed my mind...OK!!

Lullacry (Gothic Metal band from Finland)

Yes, before Lacuna Coil, Led Zeppelin, Linkin Park, Living Sacrifice, actually all of these never crossed my mind until I had a quick peak at the CD’s in my collection that started with “L”...so, I guess that means that Lullacry rule in the “L’s”...

Masterplan (Power Metal band from Germany)

The very first band that came to my mind, before Megadeth, Metallica and MxPx?

Nevermore (Heavy Metal band from the USA)

Another huge surprise for me, this one came to me before Nightwish, Nightrage, NIN, Nirvana, Nickelback and Norther...

Orphaned Land (Progressive Death Metal band from Israel)

Yes, I thought of this one first before Opeth crossed my mind, I’m still in shock...but not surprised since I’ve been listening to Mabool quite a lot lately.

Paradise Lost (Gothic Metal band from the UK)

This was a very solid first thought, before Penumbra, Pyramaze, Pig Destroyer, Pantera, Pain of Salvation, Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree...

Q Lazzarus (if they ever released an album, I’m not aware of it...)

Who is Q Lazzarus? Remember “Goodbye Horses”, played during one of the most memorable moments in the movie “Silence of the Lambs”? Anyway, I never forgot it and the name of the band who are credited for performing it...Of course, it came to mind before Queensryche and Queen.

Rage (Heavy Metal band from Germany)

Before Rage Against the Machine, Rush and Rotting Christ.

Symphony X (Progressive Metal band from the USA)

Many came to mind here but Symphony X was first...Shadow Gallery, Shadows Fall, System of a Down, Sirenia, Stratovarius, Sentenced, Slayer, Soil, Soilwork...

Therion (Symphonic Metal band from Sweden)

Both Testament and Tourniquet are worthy of mention here but not before the mighty Therion...also, Three Doors Down, Three Days Grace and Tonic all came to mind as well.

Unearth (Metalcore band from the USA)

And nothing else comes to mind!

Vanden Plas (Progressive Metal band from Germany)

Van Halen and Velvet Revolver both a distant thought behind Vandan Plas...

Within Temptation (Gothic Metal band from the Netherlands)

The Wallflowers and Whitesnake came to mind, but I really had to think about this one before something actually came up...

XTC (British Pop band)

Racer X and Symphony X both came to mind, but they don’t qualify for this letter. So XTC it was, even though I own absolutely nothing by them. I just wanted to make that very clear for everyone...

Yes (Progressive band from the UK)

Such an easy selection, though Yanni and Yngwie Malmsteen both came to mind...

ZZTop (American Blues/Rock band)

Another easy thought to end my list.
