The Bottom Line Just do it! It's really fun, a great way to learn a new hobby, and a good way to spend an afternoon!
Hey! So you want to start a band, rock out with some friends? Then my review is the place to learn how to do all this! I will give you 10 rules to being in a band, and 3 suggestions for becoming the best band in history!
1. Find kind band members, who you can talk to, and who are very close friends or relatives. Nothing is worse than hating your band members!
2. You are a band! Decide on stuff as a band! Do not go ahead by yourself, or think that the band has to follow all of your commands! Think together!
3. Never lie to your band. Lying to your band could cause problems, such as a band member quitting, or a mixed up concert. Stay honest.
4. Don't back stab. Backstabbing is when you treat someone very poorly, and like I said in Rule #1, to have a sucessful band, you need to share ideas and thoughts.
5. Think! A band doesn't get anywhere if you never show up to practice! Chances are, if you keep being selfish, you could be saying "goodbye" to the band.
6. Don't steal attention. If you are preforming, or having an interview, remember to give everyone a chance to talk, or...if you really, really, really want to hog all attention, hey!...go solo!
7. Share your lyrics for a song, or anything else with your band members so they know what's going on!
8. Try not to get in fights with your band members, because you will be seeing them soon at band practice!
9. Work practice out! At first you may have to travel to each others houses for practice, so make sure you don't pick on one person's house especially. If you guys have a drummer, it would help to go to their house, or...you guys might even decide on a special Band place, where you can go to practice, and talk!
10. Have fun! Don't be pushed to do anything you don't want to do, and don't think there is a special kind of music you guys need to play in order to become good, just have a great time!
Those were the rules to being in a band, now let's get to the suggestions for becoming an amazing band!
1. Practice, practice, practice! Practice makes perfect like everybody says, and it's true! If you guys don't have practice, then you won't be going anywhere!...sorry to break you couch-potato's hearts, but it is true! One practice a week is the minimum, and if you guys forget, do not fret, because it will give you more time to practice your own instruments!
2. Best if you have different instrument players! If you have one drummer, 2 guitarists, and one bass player, you are good to go! If you have one drummer, and one guitarist like the "White Stripes", you are good to go! if you have no drummer, I don't care! Do you get the point? You can make good music anyway!, even though it it best if you have multiple instruments so it sounds different. Imagine 7 guitars, now how do you feel?
3. Get your own style! You can be the coolest if you make up your own music, and not steal it! Hey, imagine becoming the hottest techno band around! Cool, eh?
4. Have a personality. Take your band seriously, don't laugh about it, or take it as a joke! You have a great opportunity to rock your way up to the top, so do it!
