Tiffany & Co..
I shop online all the time I love buying things on the internet because of the ease and convenience. Not so with my first and ONLY experience with Tiffany & Co. online! My sister and I decided that this would be our last year of buying each other expensive gifts usually consisting of a Coach purse, so I decided to go out with a bang and buy her a bracelet from Tiffany. I figured the thrill of getting the box delivered to her front door (she lives out of state) would be a great birthday gift by itself!
The site
I found the Tiffany website difficult to navigate and end the end it had several glitches during my check out including not sending me an email confirmation. I also didnt like the way the cart operated during check out, but I did like the clear pictures of the items offered for sale through out the site. That being said, the item I purchased really didnt look the same to me in person once I got it (yes I got it, not my sister, but I will tell you about that in a minute
).
The delivery
No confirmation emails from the site and no idea when the item would arrive, but it did eventually arrive SIXTEEN DAYS later and to the WRONG address. They sent the package to me two states away from my sister and the driver literally dropped it on the front porch for all to walk off with. I saw the TCO on the box and knew what it was immediately.
The item
I decided to go ahead and open it up to check it out and make sure it was the correct item. It was, but the picture was far better looking than the in person item in my opinion. I like it, but it isnt really anything that special. She probably would have preferred another purse, really.
Customer Service:
No service with a smile. The lady immediately offered to refund my shipping and then I told her she should refund my shipping to get it to my house where it shouldnt be and then give me more shipping money so that I could send it to my sister. She went to her supervisor and came back and told me that they would not refund me anything. Apparently, because it was an engraved item it should have taken even longer and I was lucky to get it so quickly. (Side note: the engraving consisted of the letter B that is it! How long could that have taken?)
She went on to tell me she could have shipping pick it up and bring it back to Tiffany and then ship it out to my sister. I asked her if she could just send it to my sister from me directly through the shipper and was told no again. There is absolutely no flexibility with this company if this experience is any indication.
Overall
I will NEVER EVER buy anything from this company again. Hubby will be instructed to steer clear and so will everyone else I come in contact with. I can not believe that with a name like Tiffany, they would not bend over backwards to make sure that their customer service was exquisite. Sad.
