It's been sweltering the last 2 weeks here in the mid to upper 90's when it isn't raining.

I hear big bands in movies mostly and haven't heard of many here. Thanks for reminding me of Edvard Grieg. Hope you're keeping cool!

Re: Somehow, I Get The Feeling... - That's really funny (Reply to this comment)
by JAGUARDOG
Because the last 2 weekends I have been listening to music on TV. Last weekend I was going thru the channels back and forth and nothing was on I was interested in. I happened to stop on GAC and found a Country Music Video that was so funny I thought I would die laughing.

Anyway I decided to watch and listen for awhile while I surfed the WWW and I saw at least a dozen very funny videos over the entire weekend. I also found out that I like country music a whole lot more that I can ever remember. This weekend I am listening to a Music choice station on my cable station and am doing an all Disco music weekend.

I can't remember what GAC stands for yet (something, something Country) but I can sing some of the videos already that I have seen repeated a few times now. My favorite Video is the one called "As Good As I Once Was" by "Toby Keith”. It is so funny from beginning to the very last scene in the Ambulance. Another one I like is “Paycheck Woman” by “Cletus T. Judd” who is apparently the Country version of “Weird Al Yankovic”.

Some of his other silly songs are:

Bake Me A Country Ham
Cletus Went Down To Florida
Did I Shave My Back For This?
First Redneck On The Internet
Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer Grandpa Got Runned By A John Deere
How Do You Milk A Cow
I Love NASCAR
I Stoled The Record
If Shania Was Mine
Merry Christmas From The Whole Fam Damily
My Cellmate Thinks I’m Sexy
(She’s Got A Butt) Bigger Than The Beatles
Skoal: The Grundy County Spitting Incident
Third Rock From Her Thumb
Willie’s Got A Big Deck

...that, if all of the radios in your house and car broke (in fact, if all of the radio stations in your listening area went out-of-business), you really wouldn't miss them that much as long as you had the various players it takes to fill your house with all of the music in your collection!

Happy Listening!

The only reason you were not sent a special engraved invitation to the Ball was as I mentioned in my posting that only those on my WOT were sent the invitations. Maybe when I get to know you and your postings better you will be on my WOT also? But I also mentioned that regardless if you received a personal invitation or not EVERYONE on the site is very welcome to join in and submit an entry.

So let me first make a personal invitation to you to please submit your entry when you have time? Also I'm not quite sure what you mean with your statement “Also, my list will eventually drop.”?

Re: My favorite - No. 9, No. 9, No. 9, No, 9 ????? (Reply to this comment)

I already have "Anton Bruckner" on my list but I did forget all about Symphony No. 9 so I will have to correct that screw-up right now and thanks.

I hope you get a chance to submit some sort of entry be it rock, pop, country, classical or whatever soon?

Saint-Sains (so far) is the Organ Symphony, Symphony Number Three. Did you give Bruchner a miss? I like what I've heard of his Symphonies, especially Number Nine. Anyway, thanks for not neglecting classical music.

Re: Impressive lists... - I would love to cover some of these someday (Reply to this comment)
by JAGUARDOG
I plan on adding some of these Artists and my favorite album/CD by them to my list of Artists to cover in-depth in the near future. Some examples of ones I would love to cover some day in the future when I get to that letter are:

HARRY JAMES
KAY KYSER
HENRY MANCINI
GLENN MILLER
MITCH MILLER
ARTIE SHAW

and then possibly squeeze in somewhere the Dorsey brothers, Jimmy & Tommy. I probably would never touch the Classic Composers as I know very, very little about them and only about certain songs. Thanks a lot for asking as I'm glad to know there might be some interest out there. I never gave it more than a passing thought before thinking no one cares about Music from the Swing & Sway era.

The great "Al Hirt" plays a mean fast version of "Flight Of The Bumble Bee" on trumpet that I really love. I hope you get a chance to submit an entry into my write-off Julie? It's a whole lot of fun putting your list together and just reminiscing about the great Music of times past.

Well (Scenes From “The Creation”) by "Vladimir Ussachevsky" is totally mind blowing. It makes you feel like you are floating on a cloud it is so awesome.

Xenakis was an easy pick, and classical composer the only category I could come up with an "X" entry for (even if I don't know the piece you list). "U' was harder, not least because I've never heard of your choice!
