This is an excellent starter system and the best in its price range category.
DVD movies sound incredible. Not the best speakers, but you can upgrade them on your own.
This system should suit most audiophile's home theater needs, for movies it sounds like a high-end system that would cost over two grand.

Sound quality for just music is probably suitable for most but not for the audiophile.

Kenwood's customer support is top notch, they actually called ME back twice just to see if everything was working ok. Putting together a home theater system is not the easiest task for no matter what type of system you buy.
There are a mountain of wires and cables, and trying to figure out what type of connection your tv/dvd requires can be complex for most users. The documentation was pretty good and the wires are all color coded.
