Does Game Run Away From The Prospect Of 300 Bars?

The Bottom Line This is full of lyrical samples to tell of what Game is saying and his meaning - so don't let that affect your rating.

HYPE.

That is what preceded the long focus on the supposedly legendary 300 Bars And Runnin' written by none other than former G-Unit soldier, Game. Yes, the impressive amount of putting 300 lines into your song is quite a process, howver he only put it away in a few months. Game changes beats every so often ranging from Biggie to Kanye West. Before this, he already put out 100 & 200 bars, respectively and this was recieved by the community as a generally weak dis with nothing worthwhile to say. The bars are divided through different tracks and samples, most notable for it's excessive use of Jay-Z beats ("Takeover" and the recent "Dear Summer"); however let's give a breakdown of the bars and how Game had taken this weight on his shoulders.

It opens with many kids expressing their distate for current hip-hop music, most notably 50 Cent & "G-G-G-Unot!" After that Game sets into a light drumbeat with scratches and starts off with a memorable array of lines:

Here the breakdown, pass the doja, 45 in the holster
Hollow tips'll fold 'em, them n***as they toy soldiers
Oh, that boy colder than Hova unless he sober
Like he the president but this ain't the takeover
Now hold the speakers, bring ya ears a little closer
'Fore you call this a dis and you make Hova p*ssed
Why would I wanna do that? When I'm just the new cat
That was told when a n**** take shots to shoot back
Defending his yard, yeah standing his ground
I'm sayin if you gon' retire, than hand me the crown
Nah let Bleek do it, then throw him a concert in Madison Square
Watch everybody sleep through it
We could go bar for bar, let the lines speak to 'em
What they say? Bleek is over, let Chris & Neef do it
They say the wrong thing, I'ma smack 'em silly
What you thought them was the only n****s rapped in Philly?

Chock full of Roc-A-Fella mentionings, Chris & Neef being the two members comprising the Young Guz. A small bit of hypocrisy is when he mentions he doesn't want to outrage or offend Jay-Z, however he then mentions his protegees in a threatening manner. He speaks mainly of Roc-A-Fella in the opening bars, however he eventually descends into dissing G-Unit for his pleasure.

F*** Lloyd Banks, it ain't about who could rap
It's about when the ruger clap is rufus back
Tell Jadakiss, tell him the duke is back
I'm still +By Your Side+ no matter who comes strapped

"By Your Side" is the name of a Jadakiss song that surfaced on his latest album Kiss Of Death. He then insults Tony Yayo and his self-proclaimed nickname "Talk Of New York" saying his 16's (raps comprised of 16 bars, or lines) are boring. He then goes on to dis Olivia in a later part of the song:

Olivia talking bout "We a family, Game had to go"
N**** I'll smack that h* like I'm Jackie-O
Cause I don't wanna be cool, I don't wanna be you
I don't wanna stay friends or wear your G-Unit shoes
Don't want you on my hooks, don't wanna be in your group
Just wanna sit here and wait...

After the Olivia mentioning the track flips into the Just Blaze production "Dear Summer" with meandering pianos and a soul sample. He later ridicules Mike Jones in an eight-line parody. Game, however doesn't always bring heat. He normally dwells on the same subjects (Air Forces, Nikes, G-Unit, Roc-A-Fella).

You sell records but a G-G-G-Unot (G U Not)
You can ask Mr. C-C-C who hot
Tony Yayo I bet ten G's you flop
Run up on that new 300 C you got

He often seems to be stringing words together just for the fun of it, creating a rather mediocre performance in certain areas of the song. But who can blame him for at least trying something new out. He does seem to up his standards when he spits over decent beats.

What happened to the old school, I thought it was rhymin
Doug E. Fresh & Dana Day on +The Corner+ like Common
Now that ain't common, it's more like top ?
The flow is news, I throw it up like vomit

Although I'd say that last punch is just pathetic, the Common reference was welcome and it seems he laments on the garbage G-Unit has brought to the airwaves, seeming as though they have brought a new low to hip hop (which is not far from the truth.) He also throws in a punch at 50 Cent that I'm sure he is regretting right now.

And Life Goes On
Now back to the coward of the hour who lied and said he write my songs
He told Vibe Dre was gon leave me on the shelf
So he made all my hits, you shoulda kept 'em for yourself

Anyway, the track wasn't bad and although 50 Cent still runs his mouth; and Game is still writing useless dis songs to the camp (see the "Just A Lil Bit" remake) I think Game is upping his factor of the beef by writing a ridiculously hard track, which is sure to be a milestone and something 50 will never be able to do. I'm trying 500 bars, but it's harder than I thought.

However this song also has demonstrated how heated a simple rap beef can become and I really don't think either 50 nor Game are realizing there are consequences to their actions. Hopefully this will subside in due time; even though it is entertaining it's just unleashing more hate upon the hip hop community. Unfortunately, it seems we'll be stuck with this for a while. Don't get me wrong - beef is definitely interesting to watch progress but only if it doesn't truly progress into more than just words.
