The Bottom Line Sports, sports, and more sports. What more could you want in a W/O?

Scott, aka The Hockey God, is hosting his second W/O on the pastime that almost everyone in the world participates in: Sports. So, without further ado, here are my answers.

1. What are your favorite sports to watch on television? Ah, there is no limit to this almost! Football (pro and college), basketball (pro and college), and baseball (mainly pro until the CWS rolls around) are the main ones. But I also enjoy tennis, women's especially (um, Maria Sharapova anybody??), although watching Roger Federer kick Andy Roddick's butt was magic in the making at this year's Wimbledon; golf (only when Tiger is playing), and hockey (when there is no frickin' lockout!). But my pathetic Blackhawks aren't really worth watching; it's in the playoffs where hockey is so fun to watch.

2. How often do you watch sports on television? Well, gathering from that long list, a whole hell of a lot! I probably watch at least some type of game a night, if something good is on. And if not, then you can bet I am watching the 9:00 Baseball Tonight and the 10:00 Sportscenter. Stupid area Midwest network had to change Fox Sports Net from Cubs to Cardinals games this year. Ahhh! Oh well, I still have WGN to be thankful for.

3. What are your favorite sports to watch live? College basketball is sweet, since the Cyclones are darn good at the Hilton. I have never seen my favorite-in-my-heart team, the North Carolina Tar Heels, live but plan to do so in the future. Also, nothing beats a Cubbies vs. Cardinals game, at Wrigley or Busch for that matter. The atmosphere is absolutely electric!

4. How many live sporting events do you typically attend annually? Since I am a poor college student who has tuition and books to pay for, not nearly one a year! I know, pathetic for a sports fan like me, but I have almost no time to go catch a game with work and class. Baseball is cheaper, but Chicago is a long drive from Ames, and who the hell wants to watch the Royals?

5. What organized team sports have you ever participated in previously? Basketball, baseball, football, and track. All in high school and middle school. Yeah, after realizing that having the absolute sh*t kicked out of you from a 200 lb. rover coming at you when you are the punt returner is not much fun, you learn to play other sports, or just do that fair catch thing. 'Member people, I am a mere 5'7", 130 lbs. soaking wet!

6. What organized individual sports have you participated in previously? Cross-country. That is definitely an individual sport because although you have teammates, you are essentially racing against them as well; they aren't there to help you along like a Tour de France team. Running a marathon was also quite fun as well.

7. What pick-up sports have you participated in previously? Everything under the sun. Basketball, baseball, street hockey, volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee, tennis, you name, I've probably done it.

8. What sports or outdoor activities do you currently participate in? Running and basketball.

9. How often? I run every day, about 5 miles, more when I am feeling good, and basketball is just a pick-up type thing when I see some people at the rec or my apartment's court.

10. Is there any sport that you wish you could participate in now? Uh, I would like to play golf, but I suck hard-core. It's like watching Michael Jackson with a bunch of kids; you just know something bad is gonna happen.

11. What’s keeping you from doing it? The money and time factors, plus did I mention I suck??

12. If your fairy godmother was going to give you all the skill and a job in pro sports, what sport would you play? Holy crap, that is really, really hard for me. NBA point guard I would have to pick.

13. What team and position (if relevant)? The Chicago Bulls, although I wouldn't want to take Mr. Hinrich's job; he is doing just fine there. Ok, so if that's filled, I would want to play cornerback for the San Francisco 49ers. With the talent they have currently, I just might make the squad! Oh yeah (one more Scott, this is too much fun!), centerfield for the Chicago Cubs, just to run out there and hear the Bleacher Bums scream my name. Corey Patterson is struggling out there anyway! (Nothing but love C-Patt!)

14. What beer would you promote as a sports celebrity? (OK, that was just to make certain Bruguru, Marty and Fuche participate) Like my main man, Harry Carey RIP, Bud.

15. What brand would you promote? Hmm, I wonder? This is a real toughie. Nike of course! Although if Michael Jordan hand-selected me to be a part of Jordan Brand, I wouldn't turn down that either. Just to be flossed out in some fly P.E. (player edition) Nike shoes and gear with my name, number, and customized team colors, ahh, that is the dream folks!

16. Do you have any sports heroes? Who are they and why are they your heroes? You may not be able to tell, but Michael Jordan. His dedication, perseverance, and just flat-out killer instinct, combined with super-human athletic ability was a joy to watch and admire. Who can forget that 1997 NBA Finals "Flu Game" against the Utah Jazz when he scored 38 points and hit the game-clinching three to send the series back to Chicago for the series-clinching Game 6 victory? Players nowadays would have punked out and not even performed, while he did it on a level that many superstars healthy can't even achieve. The best closer ever in the game. You want a game-winning shot? Put it in MJ's hands and you'll know just about 99% of the time, he'll get it done. Crunch-time should be re-named to MJ time.

17. If you could invent a new sport, no matter how absurd, what would it be? Let's see, take two girls slathered in baby oil, put them in an oblong rectangle and see who can pin the other down. Oh wait, that's not really a sport is it? Ok, well have pro athletes from other sports try to do each other's job. That would be a ball to see Barry Bonds try to play football or Mia Hamm play some tennis. So, I haven't invented anything really. I am fresh out of ideas!

Alright, Scott that had to be easily the funnest (whatever, I know it's not a word!) W/O I have done. No offense to any other people's W/O's I've done. That was just so right up my alley and I could have gone on forever on some of those questions. I will definitely be doing the second part; but you are tying my hands down with the don't-normally-review item. Guess I gotta broaden my horizons! Everyone else, if you want to participate and I highly encourage it, go here.
