The Bottom Line Sports and Recreation are the greatest way to get lost in competition and worry about nothing but the score and the game itself.

Our good friend Puckmugger has constructed his second annual Sports Challenge Write-Off, and here is my entry :)

=========================================================

1. What are your favorite sports to watch on television?

At any given time, you can find me watching one sport or another. But, at the same time it isn't my life, as I really love television on the whole. But, preferably, if its not the Olympics which I love to watch, it is Basketball or Baseball.

2. How often do you watch sports on television?

I am a huge Seattle Mariner fan, so I tend to tune into at least part, if not all, of every game they play. So, I pretty much watch a little bit of sports everyday.

3. What are your favorite sports to watch live?

The up-and-down tempo of Basketball is really exciting to watch in person, but I admit to LOVING the ability to watch baseball games live and in person. I can get lost in many aspects of the game, so I never find it boring. And it so long between chances for me to watch games live now, that the entire experience is exciting to me each time it happens.

4. How many live sporting events do you typically attend annually?

Now that I live in the middle of nowhere, I might see 1 or 2 live professional sporting events annually. It is far less than I would like, but the drive time to games is hard. If we are talking college, I love watching the WSU basketball games, men and women alike. I probably saw 10 or more games last season in person.

5. What organized team sports have you ever participated in previously?

Baseball, Basketball, Football, and Softball. Yes, softball. As we get older, it becomes o.k. for us men to step on the softball field ;)

6. What organized individual sports have you participated in previously?

Tennis, Bowling, Track, and Cross-Country. Now technically, they could all be considered team sports as well, but in these ones, it was all upon myself to decide the out-come. I didn't rely on others, but rather had to succeed on my own first, and that in turn would help the team.

7. What pick-up sports have you participated in previously?

You name it I have played it. I used to go down to a Rec. Center and play basketball nightly. In high school a couple of friends and I would always be looking for some sort of competitive sport to take on, and we loved playing 2 on 2 football with a passion.

8. What sports or outdoor activities do you currently participate in?

I am the co-manager of a softball team here. It is a lot of fun, and you get to see the same great guys week in and week out. I like to walk at times, and if I can find a friend who will take me on, I love to pick up the tennis racket.

9. How often?

Not often enough. Out of season, I have been getting out of shape, and I hope soon enough, that I can get into a good work-out routine.

10. Is there any sport that you wish you could participate in now?

It would be so much fun if I could be in a basketball league. I love the competition, and love being able to play in game-time situations. If there was a league for 20-somethings, I would jump into it in a heartbeat.

11. What's keeping you from doing it?

Haven't found that league yet.

12. If your fairy godmother was going to give you all the skill and a job in pro sports, what sport would you play?

First off I would think it out smartly. I would want to play in a league with guaranteed contracts, so no football for me. That would leave me baseball or basketball, and I believe I would choose basketball. It would be a blast if I was able to do that!

13. What team and position (if relevant)?

If I had the choice, I would play for the Seattle Supersonics at Point Guard.

14. What beer would you promote as a sports celebrity?

If I was a celebrity, I would not promote alcohol.

15. What brand would you promote?

With my addiction to cola, I would surely like a job promoting one of the many types. My only rule would be that I liked to drink or consume what I was promoting.

16. Do you have any sports heroes? Who are they and why are they your heroes?

There are players that I like a lot, and respect their abilities, but I can't really say that I have any heroes that are athletes. Lance Armstrong would be the closest for all that he has overcome to be great at his sport.

17. If you could invent a new sport, no matter how absurd, what would it be?

It would be a sport that combined physical ability with intelligence at the same time. I am not quite sure what it would be.. (maybe Chess crossed with Football?)... but I will get back to you if I figure it out!
