Crispy...
You're missed. I just came back after more than a year...I left because my computer was quicker to return to the real world than I. (It went to the landfill in November of 2004.)
So many have left that it feels like a morgue with squeaky clean floors and a flawless complexion....where's my Crispy when I need him?

Oh, come on! I stumble onto your brilliant reviews three months ago and now you're leaving?!
I started to get that sinking feeling you might not be as "regular" anymore (no toilet humour intended, though I take it you ARE a Brit) when your reviews stopped coming by the month, but man...I will really miss them.
And I've only been here a year!
Don't hold off on the occasional review, though - your "final thought" doesn't have to be the dead end; it could just be an "I'm busy at the moment, see you in a while" can't it?
Do what you need to, though - and best wishes. You are a talented, show-stealing writer.

...I hope this isn't the last I hear from you. You will be missed. But God knows I understand the problem. I just finished 300 illustrations for a childrens' book, and it was really hard to focus on Epinions. When it comes down to it, real life comes first.
I am happy for you-if this means you have outgrown Epinions! And I wish you all the success in the world at whatever you do. ...but if you ever DO come back, I will be first in line to welcome you. Always a fan of your writing your wit, your personality and just you in general.

Maybe that was the biggest twist of them all. Maybe there was no final awards show. The third chapter has always been a cop-out anyway, so what bigger cop-out can there be than there not being a final awards show? Do you think of that, eh? (Just thinking on my feet here)

Like I said, it may happen, but the way things are at the moment, I'm definitely not going to write again, unless circmstances change. Though one part of me is now thinking "just one last review..." Damn weak willpower.

So, I hear you ask, what does this mean in regards to certain outstanding editorials, like say, the long overdue final instalment to the Crispy's? The short answer: never gonna happen.

As for your observation of You'll wonder why you wrote this one day, because you'll miss it here... I'm regretting the need to leave already. As sad and nerdy as it is to say, this site has been a major part of my life for the last five years. When I've been feeling down, this place has been a fantastic form of escapism for me. Trust me, I'll still be here in spirit.
Who knows, if I sort my personal life out I may very well be back, who knows?

It's never helpful for someone to leave.
Even after an extended LOA myself I can't forget this place and neither will you. Not for good.
It's not ALL about writing reviews (as some may think) it's a community here.
So I'll "Say Goodnight, not Goodbye" (to quote some singer or another).
Just like your old home town, you'll drive through one day and stop in to say hi, and you know what?
Everyone will be glad to see you.
Everyone will understand you've been away.
Everyone understands that you're busy.
It's the world outside the Matrix...er, um, Epinions.
It's life, in the real world. It's how things are. It's work. It's marriage. It's illness. What ever might keep any of us away, it's simply LIFE.
