| robbiehaf's Full Review: Panasonic SC-HT700 System |
I bought this after I helped set my mom's up. Once I heard the sound, I fell in love. Plus, it's light gray colors blend into the room and are barely noticed.
This complete home entertainment system includes a 5 disk DVD/CD changer and 6 speakers. The simplicity is ideal for anyone - even my technologically deficient mother could figure out how to set it up and use it. The speakers come with a diagram for optimal sound output and color/number labels for easy connection. The remote control and base unit buttons are easy to find and operate.
The color is another plus. I like the stainless steel DVD player, but the speakers are by far the most attractive I've seen (within this price range). Who wants big black speakers in their comfortable, cushy, pastel living room? Not me! The light gray blends right in (even the speaker wires are gray, in case you leave them visible) and the compact speaker size makes them even more obscure.
Don't let the pretty colors and petite size fool you - the sound that comes out of these speakers packs a punch. The base from the subwoofer rumbles your chest when you watch those adventure-packed movies. But when you aren't in the mood to be shaken, there are 4 subwoofer levels to suit your entertainment needs.
The price was the feature that suckered me into buying this system. $400 for all this?! Can't beat that! We have a Bose system and a Kenwood DVD player and receiver in the main living room that sounds just as good, but for 5 times the price. Wish I had heard this system before we invested in that!
The only downfalls I've found with this system is that the speakers are easily soiled because of the light color (only really an issue while installing) and that it won't play my CD-R's. Oh, well - that's why I have a CD player.
