The Bottom Line I never got the NBAF subscription and I would have had several issues by now if I had ordered it directly from Jazz Times

Update October 30:
NBAF credited me for the amount of the subscription.
I corresponded with one of their managers who, while admitting that some inadvertent mistakes were made, believes that they adhered to their standards as published in the FAQ.
In his defense, I did not look at the FAQ about potential time lags to subscription start. If I had, I likely would not have ordered through them.
Still, the basic point is that I would have likely gotten the magazine faster if I had ordered it direct. I stand by the facts and my conclusions as reported in the epinion.
The original epinion is below.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
On July 17, I ordered Jazz Times magazine using a credit card through NBAF. I found out about NBAF through Ebates, an online reward service that gives cash rebates for purchases from certain vendors. I was also comforted that they were members of the Better Business Bureau. It wasn’t a big factor, but I did notice it.
I chose NBAF because a 20% Ebate was available, and the subscription price was the same available from the magazine itself and other online magazine services. My credit card was charged. Then, nothing happened.
I emailed them on September 20, asking them what happened to the subscription. I received a very unhelpful response indicating that my delay was not unusual and to be patient. This, of course, was more than 2 months after my credit card was charged. I was annoyed, as they did not acknowledge that there was a problem.
I emailed them again on October 17. They said that they would follow up and asked if my address which they included in the email was correct. It wasn’t, they sent my the name of someone in another state. I was more annoyed at this, because a credit card cannot be processed without a name and address.
I sent them a follow-up email indicating that the address was not correct and demanding that the subscription start immediately. I received a response on October 21 that my address was correct on their records. The response did not say anything about follow up or when the subscription would start. I received an email today indicating that follow-up could take 3 to 6 weeks and mentioning that a refund could be processed at that point.
This subscription was important to me, as I am working on a pending CD release and I wanted to use Jazz Times as a potential reviewer of the CD and for possible advertising.
It is 3 months after I paid by credit card. The Subscription has not started and could take several more weeks before it starts. Had I mailed Jazz Times directly, the subscription would have started long before now. I bought the current issue on the newsstand today, paying about the same price as the Ebate I received.
I suggest that it is faster and often no more expensive to buy subscriptions directly from the magazines. As for NBAF, I think that their customer service could be more responsive and more effective.
