The File Sharing system Napster was a favourite of mine for a year or so, and then the big lawsuit came from both bands and record companies. This made me look elsewhere to get my precious need of music satisfied. After trying out a few file sharing programs I was reccomended by a friend to try Audiogalaxy.
Now, I've heard a lot of backtalking about SpyWare in this program, but I still haven't noticed any of this, and to be honest, I do not care. Audiogalaxy is really great when it comes to finding what you need, and it was not hard to learn how to use either. I actually found tons of groups I never could find on Napster. This made the usage of this music sharing program a great experience, to finally find what you were looking for.
Other file sharing programs have their limitations when it comes to access and availability. Napster can't display more than 100 hits per search. This is something Audigalaxy have managed to prevent. When you search of something on the Audiogalaxy site, it displays all the hits. this is a realy plus since you can really find what you want, but it also gets a bit confusing whren you have to browse through ten or twenty hits before finding what you searched for.
Audiogalaxy has a great advantage over the other file sharing programs, since the availability is almost 100%, but I do not feel very comfortable with the high download times. This is of course a low price to pay for downloading music free, but I'm grouchy sometimes and I do not like to wait for an hour for a song I started to download. You automatically send files to users requesting, and you can't control those transfers. This isn't a drawback, since they only can access the music files in the directory you choose.
Audiogalaxy sometimes suffer from a high server load, thus making downloading either extremely slow or disabling the download capability. Sometimes it doesn't even affect you.
This program is by far the best music resource availble on the internet so far. I do hope that it won't suffer from the same things Napster did, and that they can keep up the good work of serving music to the public
